Melanie was outside the Royal gang's building at around 2:45 PM. She was so terrified that she could feel sweat dripping from her face. She felt more uneasy when the guards who were on duty stared at her. "What do you want girl?". One of them asked. Melanie cleared her throat before replying. "I'm here to see your leader. Mr. Thomas?".
The moment Melanie mentioned his name, the guards shot into a rage and exchanged glances. Before she knew, she was being searched for the dangerous objects or harmful weapons.
"Let's take her to the leader". One of them said. Melanie was dragged inside of the building. She kept resisting even though she was here by herself. Melanie noticed how huge the building was, and how everyone was wearing a black and red t-shirts with Royal gangs printed on them. She find it cool that they even got their own merch.
Finally they stopped in front of a huge shiny door that would reak of polish as if its new. The guards knocked twice and heard a voice called. "Come in". The three of them entered the room and if Melanie had the opportunity, she could have sworn she would have turned back.
A large swivel chair in front of them abruptly swivelled around demonstrating a man in his late 50s, who had a cigarette tucked between his lips appearing to be the gang's leader. "What is it?". He asked and
simultaneously glanced at the unusual presence.Melanie's POV
"Sir this girl is here to meet you she's addressing herself as Melanie Walker and_", The guard was cut off by Mr. Thomas. "What did you say? Walker?". He then glanced at me looking up and down curiously. "Are you the daughter of John Walker?". He asked that made me nervous. Shit. I shouldn't have come here. I was so scared to give the answer to his question because who knows what he will do to me if he knows my identity.
"Yes but_", He cut me off and started scolding his guards. "Are you out of your minds? You let her enter without knowing her identity? Do you even know who she is? Did you check her properly?". "Yes sir, she's unarmed". One of the guard replied.
"Hmm...", Mr. Thomas looked at me curiously. "Why are you here? Are you not aware of the dangers you can cause to your gang?". He asked sitting back on his swivel chair. "I'm sorry sir, I know I shouldn't have come here, But I have something really important to ask from you. I know you will not hesitate to tell me the truth". I spoke nervously.
"Listen Melanie, I've been after your dad for many years now... you prolly be thinking why this whole Mexico gang world is after your dad_", I interrupted him as I have heard this many times before. "He murdered Danny Carter?".
He gave me a puzzled look before continuing speaking. "That's one the reasons why most of the gang leaders are trying to locate him. You see, he was the biggest don of his era. He destroyed more than 20 gangs, he's charged with smuggling, he's charged with stealing the antique piece at the Mornado museum, and murder of Danny". He then paused to take a look at me.
"Are you really his daughter?". He asked to which I nodded. He sighed and puffed his cigerette. "I held a very different perspective of you. I thought you would be exactly like him since you're his daughter. Heartless, Cold... a threat to every gang. But you are nothing like him. Instead, you seemed like an innocent young girl who is unaware of the cruelity of this world".
His tone was conveying something. I wasn't sure but I sensed what might have been sadness or.. regret? He seemed to be nearly regretting something as he spoke. As if he was regretting that he misjudged me and sent his men to find me.
I kept quiet, not sure what to say. I did not know how he was saying was a good thing or a bad. But anyways, I had to find out the answers to my questions. "That's actually why I'm here...,". I said and Mr. Thomas glanced at me.
