Chapter 1

If you would have told me six months ago that I would be celebrating New Years Eve at Max Verstappen's apartment in Monaco in the arms of Lando Norris, I would have called you insane. Truthfully I didn't know who they were six months ago, nor did I know a thing about Formula 1 besides the fact that my dad watched it. When Lydia, his new assistant came into our lives is when I got brought into this world.

When she came into our lives in September she had just ended her relationship with Charles Leclerc. During their time together she became best friends with Max and Kelly, as well as Lando. Even when things were still bad between her and Charles she remained close to the others and was constantly talking to them. Now that her and Charles are back together the group has been inseparable. It also helps that Lydia is back in Europe now too.

I still remember the first day she told me to look up Lando. I found him so attractive. His dark curly hair, the gap in his teeth, and his tanned skin covered in freckles and moles made my jaw drop in awe. Plus the fact that he's British just made him so much hotter. Instantly I wanted to meet him. We occasionally talked whenever Lydia was on the phone with him but we didn't officially meet until October when we all went to Austin City Limits.

We hit it off which wasn't really a surprise to me. In the time leading up to meeting him I heard a lot about him as well as saw a lot on social media and knew that our personalities would mesh well together. It didn't hurt that we were both instantly attracted to one another. On the first night we met we ended up hooking up and from that moment onward we've been inseparable.

We ended up spending a week and a half together in Austin, and then a few weeks later in November he came to visit me in San Diego for a week before we went to the Las Vegas GP together where I watched the race from the McLaren garage. During our time apart we constantly text and FaceTime as well. And he just came to San Diego again for a visit a few weeks ago. To say that things have moved fast with us is the truth but everything feels so good with him, and I can't help it. I'm pretty sure I'm already in love with him.

I haven't told him yet because I'm nervous that he doesn't feel the same and we haven't even talked about us being "official" yet. But I'm hoping that will change tonight because honestly it already feels like we are. In my mind we are and I'm pretty sure in his we are as well. I want to know where we stand before I tell him my news I've been hiding from him.

"10, 9, 8..." everyone starts yelling, pulling me from my thoughts as I feel Lando wrap his arms around my waist and pull me against him. I smile as I wrap my arms around his neck and stare into his eyes. He smirks at me and he's never looked so handsome. Neither of us have drank much tonight so we are pretty much sober while everyone around us is being wild and crazy and I'm thankful I can take everything in and remember every single detail because I think this moment is going to change everything forever.

"5, 4, 3..." Lando pulls me even tighter against him and brings his mouth to my ear as I tangle my fingers into his hair.

"2, 1. HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!" Everyone yells around us but all I can hear is Lando whispering in my ear.

"Happy New Years babe." He says and I can't help but shiver in his arms, both by his proximity and by him calling me babe. I still am not used to hearing him call me the pet name and in his accent it just does something to me.

"Happy New Years bubs." I reply as I turn my head slightly so I can reach his lips and a moment later they're on mine and we are kissing passionately in the middle of the makeshift dance floor. We forget everyone around us and just get lost in each other. Eventually we pull away from one other when I hear Morgan yelling at us to get a room. When I pull back from Lando laughing I look over to see my dad staring daggers at Lando.
