NARRATED POV
No, this must be witchcraft!
Her body is covered in black and blue bruises, some purple too. She wasn't this bad when Bangizwe brought her up to her suite and now that she's waking up from the horror of last night, it feels like she recieved a second beating in her sleep. She might be a superstitious woman and she does believe the supernatural world but she hasn't made enemies as of late, and why would the person want to send an attack when she's out of the country?
What's annoying her to the core is that she got a beating for nothing, absolutely nothing. Yes, he was a gentleman about it. She won't deny that. But it ended with him making sure that she was okay in her suite. He insisted in wanting to report this but she finally got him to abandon that idea, she had to "act strong". He got painkillers for her and didn't even wait for her to fall asleep, he didn't even enter the bedroom. This makes her think that these women have him on a spell.
Now she's up and starring at her battered body on the mirror. Her face isn't that bad, make up can quickly fix this but now she has this need, it's a disorder of hers and it's always been there, she will do just about anything to get what she wants and right now, what she wants is her father's company. The key to that company is a Mdlalose marriage because Mpungose is dead set on it yet right now her only hope didn't even stick around last night. She might need to improvise and go about this the traditional way because she's not setting herself up for failure again.
They have to meet with Yazid today to finalize the paperwork before heading back home but she has no strength to leave her suite. Her entire body aches and she's pissed. She's pissed at her father, pissed at Simon and pissed at Bangizwe because the bloody man won't notice any other woman whose not his wife, so much for a polygamist, aren't they meant to be the biggest skirt chasers? If so, why the hell is she the one doing the chasing?
There's a knock on her main door and she can guess who it is, her body is not attractive at this moment but she still takes her chances and goes to get the door in just her robe
"Hi, come in,"
"How are you feeling?"
"It's not as bad as it looks, I'll live,"
"Are you sure you'll manage with today's meeting? I could go and you stay here and rest,"
Maybe he does care, maybe it worked, maybe it wasn't all for nothing.
"My father would never forgive me for that," This isn't a lie, that man would blow a gasket if he found out his company isn't being
"I'm sure if you explain-"
"He won't understand. Besides, I don't feel that bad. I just need a hot shower and painkillers. My face is not that bad, is it?" She does this so be can fix her eyes on her.
"No, it's not,"
"That's good, I'll just put on something to cover up these bruises," She looks at her arms and legs.
"He did this to you?"
She doesn't know how to explain that this isn't Simon but what else can she say? Even she doesn't know where all this extra bruising comes from so she just goes with it and nods.
"And you just want to let this be? Nomshado, this man could have done more than this and you just don't care?"he asks and she can tell that he's sensing that something is amiss. He's not stupid so she has to choose her words carefully.
" What good will it help me? It will just prove to my father that indeed I'm weak. I couldn't even protect myself, "She starts sniffing, this is the time to put her acting skills to work" Mpungose trusted me with this and I don't want to disappoint him. I just want to finalize what we came here for and leave, I'll deal with it when I get home, I'll give my therapist a call, " She lies through her teeth. There's no therapist that can handle Nomshado, that therapist would need a therapist too if they would be sent straight to a mental house after having an encounter with her.
