LULAMA
"This place isn't going to be the same without you," Adi says sadly.
"You speak as if I'm moving countries, or even provinces," I try to cheer her up. I know that in this entire place I'm the only friend she has, she's also the only friend I have so the shift is significant.
"Well you are moving," She shrugs.
"Come on, cheer up. We'll still be in the same city and we still work together and the most important part? This isn't the end of our friendship, you know you're my day one, through and through, till death," I put my hands on her shoulders and shake her playfully making her smile. I hate it when she's sad and there's very few things that can successfully make Adivhaho sad.
She looks around at the stacked and labeled boxes." So this is it, "
" This is it, "I say after her. This sure does feel like a brand new chapter, or Atleast I'm treating it like one.
I want to start afresh, properly with no doubts or anything holding me back this time. I realized that I was only hurting myself by playing our scenarios that might not even come to pass in future. I want to make this a good life, not just roll with it but really make it a good life. Yes, a lot of things aren't fair about this situation but when has life ever been fair? I can either keep drowning in my fears or really give this a shot. In just weeks, I'll be walking down the isle to exchange forever promises with this man. What good is it if I keep waiting for him to mess up or drop me?
It's time for change.
"Are you ready?" she asks bringing me back.
"I am, It's been a long time coming but I'm finally at a point where I really want to make this work with no reservations,"
"I'm happy for you, chomi. This is a big thing and I know that if you say you're ready, then you're ready and I trust that you'll do good,"
"Thanks friend, I have a good feeling about this,"
"And you stop worrying and second guessing, okay? You're good enough, there's no question about it," She says. I nod and she pulls me in a hug "even though I now have no place to crash in when I come back from a very very late night,"
"If no one is renting out the place yet then come crash here, I won't tell," I whisper.
Bangizwe walks in and Adi pulls away then grabs another box saying she will take it down.
"Are you okay?" He asks, concern written all over his face.
"Yes, I'm more than okay, I'm good,"
"You sure?"
"I'm very sure, we were just just having a girly moment, nothing bad,"
"Alright, let me get more of these boxes done so we can get going. You owe me a massage when we get home. All this up and down is exhausting me,"
"Call it exercise, you're strengthening these muscles," I playfully feel on his strong arms "feel that, so strong,"
"You like that?" he smirks
"I love that,"
"Come feel more of it then," He traps me in his hold, we end up making up in the middle of the chaos that's in my apartment.
We're stopped when Adi clears her throat to get our attention but this man doesn't let go of me, instead he let's me wiggle my way out of his hold while he chuckles
"Let's finish up so we can go home," He says lowly and suggestively, the look he has on him leaves me feeling hot then picks up another box and walks out with a sneaky smirk.
