At one o'clock a.m. I wrote out a note.
Please meet me at the ice cream parlor at two.
~Harley~
I dressed in my illumi gear and headed to the Iridescent bar. I headed to the door between Audrey and I.
"Knock, knock."
"Come on in, babes!"
I entered her room and leaned against the door. Audrey was fully dressed except for her sweat-shirt, which she was pulling on.
"Ready to go?"
"Yes, but I don't see why you want me to go." Audrey turned as she pulled her hair out of the hoody.
"I need you to drop this note off to Calvin, and into his hand alone."
"Where will you be?" She commented as she took the folded note.
"I'll be neauh the ice-cream parluh waitin' on Harley to show."
"Do you want me meet you at parluh afterwards, Ray?"
"Sure, I'll be in the alley."
We left her room and marched off to the elevator.
"GOOD'EVE BLOOMINGTON PARTY. PLEASE SELECT A FLOOR."
I selected the L for lobby and the doors slid closed.
"YOU'VE SELECTED THE LOBBY FLOOR. ARRIVAL TIME ESTIMATED IS THREE MINUTES. PLEASE ENJOY THE MUSIC GROUP SELECTED BY AUDREY WILLOWBROOK THE STRAINS."
"Okay, why do I sense you're not intending to meet up with Harley?" Audrey faced me with her hands on her hips.
"It's probably because youh intuition is correct." A awarded her a grin.
"You intend to jilt heuh? Also why do you want me to leave this note with Calvin?" She waved the note in my face.
"I have a hunch pertainin' to ouh case, but I need proof, Aud."
"Babes, you're soundin' a tad like Mr. Robotics' sistuh."
I gave her a look of confusion and she proceeded to do the robot for clarification. I chuckled as her dancing was funny, not the comparison to a robot. It honestly hurt like a paper cut, but I knew Audrey wasn't trying to insult me. She just had a quirky way of describing actions.
"I've given reign to my romantical fantasies fouh long enough. It is time I get on the ball."
"Babes, Cal and Harls aren't romantical fantasies. They're real people who've shown you affection." Audrey freed her tongue as the elevator dinged.
"YOU'VE ARRIVED AT THE LOBBY, BLOOMINGTON PARTY. HAVE A PLEASENT NIGHT."
"I knew bettuh than to get involved with anyone while on a case. With two potential suspects no less. I've dropped the metaphorical ball, Aud." I whispered as I walked towards the doorway.
"Aww, babes, you're always too hard on yourself." Audrey ran her hand down my arm as I continued walking.
The doors slid open and we stepped into a slight hustle of employees. Audrey and I marched side by side across the lobby. We exited the revolving doors and into the chilled night. We were silent as I collected a golf cart and climbed aboard. I drove past a few shops then down the alley between the Iridescent, and a bowling place. Audrey hopped out and briskly walked towards the entrance to the bar. I continued down the strip, turned into the alley atwix the "Lazy Susan" and grocer. I switched off the engine and took out my phone to check the time. The clock showed it was two-fifty-five a.m. I hit the off button, squinched for Harley's arrival. About five minutes Harley appeared and sat down on a bench. My stomach lurched at the sight of her. The rebel woman was dressed in black leather pants with reflectors on the side. She had on a black turtleneck with her leather jacket. Which was also decorated in reflectors. Harley's hair was in miniscule braids that were gathered into a ginormous bun.
