TWO YEARS LATER

Much has happened since bedding the murder of Roscoe Culpepper. I'm sure you're hoping Carver hacked Harley and Calvin for the recordings. Carver wasn't able, but I spoke to Sarg. and he gave us their cells. The phones responsible made it a cinch for Carver to access both recordings. I took both and presented my evidence to the board of deans. After a week-long deliberation I was allowed to return to Harvard. Though, I chose to continue my classes online, as I was still sleuthing. While I was balancing school and work, Audrey switched careers. With the backing from her parents, she became an event planner. You could say it was her calling as her calendar remained over-booked.

Once I graduated college I passed the bar exam, yet continued to sleuth. As two years of prior sleuthing, had won me over. Once I told my dad my decision, he rejoiced, as he wished to retire. As of a month ago we instituted a regime change. I became head of operations along with sleuthing. Carver stepped back from sleuthing and became our tech-wiz. Which created two openings in need of filling. According to my step-monster, whom my old man insisted join the team. He made her auditor to be his eyes and ears within the biz. I fought, yet dad insisted that we needed wardship until we proved otherwise. Carver was pleased she was working, and beside him.

Oppidum Noctis, it's wheels remain spinning under Eira's reign. With Scarlett beside her, choosing to retire her persona Birdie Terpintine. Jay, Sage, Gavin, and River remained at their jobs. While vendors were sought to run the Iridescent and Black Rose parlor. Ned returned to Oppidum Noctis after Carver and I returned home. As for Harley and Calvin, they've served two of their thirty year sentences.

"We're leavin' in five minutes!" I banged on Carver's door next to Audrey and I's duplex.

"We're ready!" Audrey called through the door.

"I'm not above leavin' you both." I placed both hands on the door frame.

"You wouldn't dare leave me behind, babes." Audrey yelled back.

"I mi-." I bit off and returned to our duplex to retrieve my suitcase.

I wheeled my suitcase to elevator and rode it up to the roof top. I made the decision to return to Oppidum Noctis. As Eira had contacted me a few weeks ago. The subject was alarming.

Rayven,

As I write this I fear I'm in danger. Not by Harley or Calvin's hands. By my sister, Scarlett Glass. In the last year I'd noted a change in behavior and disposition. I shrugged the warnings away as I chalked it up to the busy life in Oppidum Noctis. Until incidents aimed for me began cropping up. For instance I'd hired a crew to fix scaffolding on the "Iridescent" bar. The day Scarlett and I were checking the process was the first incident. I'd aimed to walk through the sight when Scarlett alerted me. It's not of consequence what it was, as I could have been killed. I'd thought I'd stepped out of the line of fire, but it was soon proved otherwise. As the crew's burley foreman managed to yank me backwards as the piece fell. Scarlett fell to my side and gushed over me as I'd been injured. So I brushed the idea that she'd done anything purposely. The crew finished, departed, and a lull washed over our city. Yet it was short lived as a week later another incident occurred. This time I was riding a segway around the city for a break from office-work. As I returned I received an emergency alert from Scarlett. I gassed it to the hotel, yet when I began to press the brake, I flew forward. After circling the city  the fourth time, my only option was to crash. I swerved a few citizens and smacked into the newly erected fountain. When I awoke, Jay revealed I was concussed with a fractured ankle.
