Honestly, the only thing keeping me going now is the idea of getting in trouble and being discovered if we don't hurry back. My efforts to paddle back are hardly there and seem to pale in comparison to the work the others seem to be putting in. It takes us twice as long for us to reach the dockyard where we can put the boats back. With the doors already unlocked, putting them back is way easier than before, but I don't think that people are going to ignore the obvious holes in the back of the boats from swords, spears and arrows.

When we leave the dockyard, I'm still conscious of the fact that the moonlight is silhouetting us but Im way too tired to care. There are no buses or trains that run this early in the morning, so we all have to walk home. I think only one person said their goodbyes, but I can't remember. All I remember is that the silence broken by several footsteps is now only broken by one. When I make it home, I'll need to take a shower as my skin smells like saltwater, and my hair is full of sand. I don't know what excuse I'll have if or when my grandparents catch me taking a shower. Maybe I couldn't sleep, and I thought this might help. Yeah, let's go with that.

When I make it home, I open the door to a pitch-black hallway. I toe my shoes off at the door and shuffle along as quietly as possible inside the house toward the bathroom. I start up the shower and slip my clothes off while I wait for it to get warm. Luckily, while I'm in my magical girl outfit, my clothes stay in the same condition as they were before I transform into my magical girl outfit. Still, that doesn't apply to my hair, where I have to apply shampoo three times before the majority of the sand is gone. So annoying.

I get out of the shower and towel myself off, and wring my hair out. I look over at my hairdryer as I consider using it. It would probably make far too much noise, but at the same time, it would make this process so much faster. I peek out into the hallway to see if my early morning shower was noticed. I don't see any lights on, so I think I'm safe. I close the door again and grab my hairdryer and turn it on. At this point, I don't care about the noise it makes. I just hope my grandparents don't wake up. I finish up and make my way to my bed.

I don't even remember getting into bed. I just remember waking up in it. I reach out to check the time on my phone only to realise I forgot to charge it last night. I sigh and plug it in and just lie in bed, waiting for it to charge. As I stare at my charging phone, I think back to last night. Why Natalie likes putting me in dangerous situations, I have no idea. If I hadn't let my curiosity get the better of me, things could've turned out so differently. I mean, it was stupid of me to lift my head up in the first place. Using my pistol to block swords and spears? I could've used Mia's baton or Isabella's shield. Speaking of which, Mia's magic would have been perfect for electrocution of a large amount of magical girls. Who were those magical girls anyway? They have to be a different group from the one we saw since Natalie said they only wear red hoods.

My phone vibrates and lights up the room. I grab it and check for messages.

1 message from Isabella
Meet at my place

I mumble in annoyance. What could be so important that I have to get out of bed to go discuss whatever it is? I mean, apart from the fact that we got into that fight last night and may have even died... probably. Even then, you can just text it to me. With half my face in a pillow and my other arm lying at my side, completely dead, I open up my phone to type out my message.

Why?

Isabella is quick with a reply.

We're here to discuss about last night

Just give me the cliff notes

No reply. Haaaa, why? With no confirmation, I don't know what they want. I push myself off my bed and rub the eye I had buried in my pillow. I grab some clothes from my cupboard and put them on before walking out of my room. I briefly contemplate on having breakfast but quickly realise that I'm far too lazy for that. I feel like a zombie right now. I slip my shoes on before bending over and groaning like an old woman to tie them up and walking out the door. I lock the door and turn around.
