Little Denji was so happy that he had a cool new dad. One that wasn't crappy, one that cared about him.

He was also very happy about having a new older brother, and it was already pretty obvious he looked up to him. If Denji wasn't with you, then he'd be with Aki.

He just thought his big brother was so cool! Even if he never really expressed that verbally.

Not everything was picture perfect for the little boy though. His persistent nightmares were a constant threat whenever he tried to sleep alone, making him a frequent visitor of your bed. At the same time though, he just really liked being hugged by you.

Warm clothes, fresh food, a loving family, he really had it all now!

Pochita was also very happy, not only because he had a nice place to sleep, but because he knew Denji would be safe with this new family.

Pochita was not fond of going to the veterinarian office though. He'd never bite anyone, but there was something about the way he acted which just seemed so uncomfortable when you took him there, which was why you always brought Denji along with you.

"Denji! Don't eat that, it's a dog treat!"

The little boy held the treat inches away from his mouth,
"But it has frosting on it!"

You sighed and grabbed it away from him, putting it back where it belonged.
"It's dog treat frosting,"

The little boy seemed a bit disheartened by the fact he wasn't getting a frosted treat, so you decided to cheer him up.

"How about this. We can go to the bakery later and you can pick out a cookie for you and your brother. Does that sound good?"

The boy lit up and shook hide head excitedly. He really liked how nice you were.

Eventually the two of you were called into the office to get Pochita's test results.

The dog jumped into your son's arms as soon as he was in sight, with the boy giggling as Pochita licked his face.

"Even though he looks weird, Pochita's an exceptionally healthy dog,"
The veterinarian explained.

"That's good to hear,"

You turned around so you could pet the pooch and talk with your son,
"You hear that Denji? Pochita's super strong!"

Denji smiled brightly,
"I knew that already!"

"Okay Denji, you can pick two cookies, one for you, and one for Aki,"

The boy ran up to the glass display cases examining each cookie carefully. He quickly found the one that he wanted for himself, but was finding it quite difficult to find one for his brother.

You noticed this and questioned him about it.

"I wanna make sure he really likes it!"
He answered.

It was quite adorable honestly. The little boy just wanted to make sure his big brother liked what he picked out. He didn't want to disappoint his cool older brother!

"I'm sure Aki will like whatever you pick out for him, Denji,"

Soon enough Denji had picked out both cookies, and he was eager to see if Aki would enjoy his. He really hoped he liked it!

"Aki's not gonna be home for another hour, so you'll have to be patient, okay?"

Denji gave you an earnest nod before sitting down right in front of the door with the cookies, waiting for Aki to get home from school. You knew better than to try and stop him. Besides, with Pochita with him, he probably wouldn't get bored.

About an hour later, Aki finally returned.

"Welcome home, Aki,"
You greeted him with a hug, and so did Denji.

"Hey! I got you a cookie, you wanna try?"
The little boy asked with hopeful eyes.

"Sure,"
Aki responded, accepting the cookie from his adopted brother.

He took a bite, and a slight smile made its way to the dark haired boy's face. This was enough for Denji to celebrate his success, jumping up at you.

"He likes it!"

You chuckled while picking Denji up,
"I can see that,"

Aki was a bit confused as to why Denji was making such a fuss over him liking a cookie, but couldn't help but admit it was a nice sight to see.

He liked his family.
