Halloween Special

"Well aren't you three the cutest trick or treaters in the world!"
You felt your heart beat with the immense adorableness of your children

Each of your children had asked you to help them build their costume, and it'd been a very fun bonding activity doing so.

Aki wore a formal suit and had a sword.
Denji had helped you make him gloves and a helmet with cardboard chainsaws attached.
And Power helped you pick out the devil horns she wanted to wear.

Their costumes didn't really match up with each other, but that was alright, you'd get them matching costumes another time.

"You know what to say when they open the door?"

"Trick or treat!"
They all responded, holding out their baskets.

"And when they give you candy?"

"Thank you!"
They answered.

You smiled, happy you'd raised such polite(ish) children.
"Excellent! Now let's go get you some candy!"

Your three little ones cheered before following you out the door, being careful not to knock over the bowl of candy you left at the front door for the other children to take.

Of course you knew that some stupid kid would take the whole bowl for themselves and ruin it for everyone else, but what could you do about it? Nothing! And anything more than that would be way more work than it'd be worth.

House after house, you children held their baskets out, gathering a nice supply of candy, some of which you'd definitely be taking for yourself. Hey, you raised them, you should be able to tax them a little!

"Daaaad, my baskets too heavy!"
Power whined.

Her basket was indeed full to the brim, and it seemed the plastic handle was beginning to hurt her hand.

"Here Power, I'll hold yours too,"
You took the basket from her, and she thanked you with a quick hug.

"Can you hold mine too please?"
Your younger son asked.

"No problem,"
You took his bucket.

You glanced over at Aki, and he looked away from you. He was 10 years old, he didn't need you to carry his basket! For the past few halloweens, he'd always end up tuckered out, and had to be carried back home by you. But now that he had younger siblings, he didn't want to embarrass himself like that.

But damn was his hand hurting!

"It's okay Aki, I can hold it for you,"
You tried to reason with him.

He shook his head,
"It's fine,"

No it wasn't, but he wasn't going to let you know that!

But as you expected, the pain got the better of him, and you ended up with his basket in your hand.

"Looks like you've got enough candy to last you through the winter, how about we head home?"
You suggested, noticing how your children were beginning to get sluggish.

You managed to get them all home before the passed out, and helped them into their pajamas.

You gave each of them a goodnight kiss, and let them dream happily about the candy they'd come to consume.
