TW: NEEDLES

While you folded laundry, you had your phone between your ear and shoulder, talking with a friend.
"Make sure to get me a souvenir while you're visiting your family in china,"

She responded,
"I will. Oh, I wanted to ask, is your dog neutered? And your cat spayed?"

That was a good question.
"Now that you say that, I don't think they are,"

"You should probably get on that, it'll keep 'em alive longer. I've gotta go now, say hi to your pets for me,"

"I will, bye,"

You hung up the phone and finished with the laundry before going to find Pochita and Nyanko. Since Power and Denji were playing together, the two of them were just relaxing, sleeping together. They looked so cozy!

Too bad you'd need to get rid of their genitalia.

As you stared at them, the two animals could sense that something very unfortunate would be happening to them.

"Hey dad, why'd we bring Pochita here? I thought we already did his check up?"
Denji asked.

"And why'd we bring Nyanko too?"
Power added.

"Well, I've brought them here so they can be... fixed,"
You stated, trying to find age appropriate of words.

"Fixed? Are they broken?"
One of them asked.

"No no, they're not broken, it just means that..."
Oh lord how were you going to explain that Pochita was getting his balls chopped off.

"They're both getting rid of their down there's,"
Aki put bluntly.

Shock and horror overtook your two youngest's faces, and although you wish Aki had worded it better, you were still glad that you weren't the one who had to break the news.

"I don't want Pochita to get his p-"

You quickly hushed Denji before he said the whole word, seeing as you were in public with many bystanders.

"Hush now Denji, I'm doing this for his own good, Nyanko's too,"

"How's that supposed to make sense?!"
Power asked.

"Well for starters, it can actually help them live longer, and..."

You looked through the pamphlet the veterinarian had given you,
"It'll also make them calmer and... did I mention they'll live longer?"

Most of the benefits were things the two children wouldn't be able to understand, but they were able to understand that this was a necessary process if they wanted their pets to live a long time.

Both animals seemed fine by the end of it, but seemed a little bit wary of you now. Last time they trusted you, they had their balls chopped off and uterus removed, so it made sense.

Your trip to the vet reminded you of something else as well.

You dropped Pochita and Nyanko off at home, making sure to give them a heating pad and some treats before heading to the hospital with your children.
