Chapter 3
A shaking sensation woke me from my very necessary sleep.
"Mom lemme sleep"

I turned around trying to pull my blanket closer. "Please!"

Cindy started laughing as she pulled the sheets away and left me in the cold. "Come on it's time for school. You had two weeks off of school, you can go back" "i'm not ready" I really wasn't.

The thought of studying made me mad. Furious even. And I really needed to. I couldn't let my scores go bellow C's or I would get kicked out.

Those were the rules for the scholarship.
The obviously very high standard rules. After all it was an elité school.

Maxton.

New yorks most renovated and by far most interesting school. They had hundreds of classes, only the best teachers and almost all the students were children of millionaires. And then there was me.

With my scholarship and zero dollars in my pocket.
At least I could say they didn't accept me for my money but for my brain. I was grateful to be there. Really.

But sometimes it was all so overwhelming. Lyric helped, Evan too but sometimes it just all grew over my head.

The last two weeks of christmas break had been a very needed break for me. Not enough time to really take in all the missed sleep I had from last term.

But I was excited for friday. Event Committee was throwing a welcome back party in school and there would be a huge winter ball with fairy lights and balloons and stars and- I was excited.

Evan hadn't asked me yet but I really hope we would go together. It would help our relationship and I wanted to see him in a pretty suit.

Not that I didn't every day because of the uniform.

I had already sewed my dress. It took me around 78 hours to make so Evan NEEDED to ask me out. If he didn't I'd go anyway.
I'm sure Ly would take me on a date if he didn't have time or something.

I loved the process of making it though.
Sewing had been my passion since forever, drawing the designs, then buying the material and investing so much time and effort into something so special.

There was no other like the one I had made, no one could recreate it.
I loved that about it and it was why I had worked so hard to get into this school. They offered sewing, designing and art courses no other school did.

They had even put one of my designs on their website for example of what the sewing courses bring you.
I had been so proud that day, I cried the whole afternoon.

And with all the rich people there, I had even gotten some simple requests for sewing stuff for a few girls.

They had never talked to me again and probably used me because I did it for cheap money but still, the thought of them wearing the stuff I had made was what kept me going.
My big dream was to design a dress for a fashion show one day. That was why I woke up every day.

And now it was time to do exactly that.
I took a deep breath and crawled out of bed into the bathroom.

My hair was a mess, I hadn't taken off my makeup and the toothbrush from the day before seemed unused.

Shower?
I checked the time. I had 55 minutes before I had to leave, a quick shower would fit.

30 minutes later I was standing in my room, smelling like vanilla and almonds and dressed in the school uniform.

"Sweetheart do you want cinnamon crunch cereal or a yoghurt bowl? I just found some strawberries in the freezer!" She was such a sweet mom.

Cindy and Maggie had adopted me when I was 4. They had tried egg transplant for about 2 years but couldn't get the egg to fertilise or something like that. So adoption seemed to be the perfect solution. I was so glad they had.
I used to live with my other parents till then but they weren't exactly perfect people so I was grateful for my moms.

"The strawberries and yoghurt! Thank you" I started untangling my hair and brushing it out from the night.

I didn't really wear a full face makeup to school except on important days so today it was eyeliner, mascara and a little bit of concealer to hide the bags below my eye.
And of course the eyebrows.

My natural hair colour was blonde so my eyebrows were invisible most of the time.
10 minutes left.

Perfect money so far.
I walked in the kitchen and sat down on the counter.

"What's your plan for today?"
Cindy put the bowl in front of me and I smiled at her in response.
"I have to work till 6 today" a loud groan came from her mouth as she let her chin fall onto her hands.

I laughed at her. "You seem just as motivated as Maggie did yesterday evening, starting her Night Shift."

"Oh she texted me earlier, I quote: Why did we want to have a baby once? I hate children."
We both started laughing. "Babies are cute"
"Right, I think so too!"
"Maybe a cat would-"
"Talk about that with Mag, I'm completely on your side."

Me and Cindy had tried getting Maggie to allow us our cat for the last years. But she was scared of them for whatever reason. Some cat attacked her when she was a child and now she couldn't face her fear apparently. Fuck that.

A cat would solve all my problems.
I wouldn't feel so lonely anymore when Evan isn't around. I would have a cuddle buddy and it's literally a cat.

"You're right, someday."
"Someday."
I smiled at her and finished my bowl.
"Gonna brush my teeth and then Evan should be here."
"Alright have fun in school sweetheart."
"Thank you!" I yelled already on the way into the bathroom.

Exactly as I walked out the door Evan rang the bell. I smiled at him.

We had had sex for 3 hours after our fight and everything was back to normal.
I think even better now, he seemed so much more grateful.
He had even texted me good morning, which he never did.

"Hey milady." I wrapped my arms around him. "I missed you!"
He picked me up and I pulled my legs around him.

He smelled like fresh men's shower and a bit of cigarette in the back. "Ready for school"

"No absolutely not, but ready to see you in a dress on Friday." I pulled away from his shoulder staring in his face.

"You actually wanna go?"
"Of course I do baby."
I smiled and kissed him.

He was so perfect!

"I love you so much! Ahhhh I'm so excited!"
If I wasn't off the floor I would be jumping around in circles.

"I love you too pretty."
I felt my cheeks blush and smiled in his face, kissing his nose.
"Thank you"

At 7.55am we pulled into the school parking lot.

Normally I would have biology now, but Lyric had a doctors appointment this morning and asked me to show around the new student. I had obviously taken it.

I loved meeting new people and helping them find their way around here.
It remembered me of my first day and how Ly had showed me every single room in this building including the men's locker room. We had immediately clicked and had been friends ever since.

Now she was the leader of event committee and I found my way around school alone.
We kissed goodbye and Evan made his way to maths class, I think he had that now.
Me on the other hand, I went into EC room and looked for all the papers I had to give to the new student.

Who would it be? I was so exited. Even for him or her.
This school was everything you could dream of.
