Authors note
Hi, thx for reading. I wanted to know how you guys like the longer chapters? Or if you prefer short ones over these. Pls let me know!!
And now have fun <3The restaurant looked sweet from the outside, the front was fully glass with some brown wood around it.
As I had figured out from my quick google search in a moment of silence on our drive, it was a thai restaurant.
I had also already decided what I would eat because I absolutely hated not knowing what to choose and for the other person having to wait for me. I would get the stir-fried broad rice noodles with steamed broccoli. Which I was actually really excited to try, broccoli was one of my favorite vegetables.
He opened the restaurant door for me and I immediately felt the spicy smell in my nose. It smelled like coriander and curry, like lemongrass and something a bit more sweet. The light was dimmed and the atmosphere quiet, with relaxing low-fi beats in the back and some people quietly chattering in the back of the room.
I thanked him for the door and walked further inside, now also being hit by the warmth of the room. Outside it was pretty cold even though it wasn't the deepest winter anymore. In a few weeks flowers would start blooming and trees would finally start turning green again.
The restaurant immediately reminded me of spring, even though the colors were so dimmed and dark it had this warmth you only felt in spring. Kiernan walked in behind me and let the door close, the small wind-chime making light noises besides us.
"Did you reserve a table?" I mumbled, looking up to him not knowing if I should step further inside or wait here to be seated. But instead of answering me he brushed past me, making his way up to the counter. A guy with a black buzzcut and outstanding ears smiled at him. "Hey man"
They seemed to know each other, I felt a little comforted by the thought. Knowing that it couldn't be a rude employee if they were friends. I walked over too, stopping besides Kiernan who was already hugging the guy. "Atid that's Cassie" he smiled at me, his hand reaching out to shake mine. I met it shortly in front of me and smiled back. "Nice to meet you"
"New girlfriend?" He took back his hand, turning his view away from me and back to Kiernan. I felt my cheeks turn red by the situation, feeling Kiernans gaze on me for just a second knowing exactly how he was looking right now. "No"
Atid nodded, smiling at me once more. "You guys pick a table, I'll bring over the menu."
"Thank you." I felt his hand brush my back as he turned around to walk up the few steps to a higher seating area. I followed him, keeping calm and relaxed. I had made it clear this wasn't a date, we were just casual friends hanging out. I didn't need to be nervous or overly excited.
I sat down across from him, keeping the big table between us and feeling relieved by the space that was left. I had room to breath and act on my own, there were no risk of accidentally touching him or something like that. I couldn't handle it right now.
"You know that guy?" A good way to start a conversation. "Atid?" I nodded. "Yeah we met in elementary school" he smiled a little, getting comfortable as he laid both his forearms on the table, crossing them over each other.
He was wearing this big black hoodie with a small logo on the side of his heart. Black really was his color, maybe dark red too, but he definitely had a dark aura around him.
"He seems nice." "He is, he's one of the only reasons I speak English." "he taught you?" he nodded, smiling behind him where Atid appeared a second later. "Talking about me?" I was already about to defend ourselves, not wanting him to think we were shit talking. "How could I not."
