I lead Jonas back to my room, closing the door behind us.
"Your mother makes the best waffles," he says.
I wobble up, grabbing our phones from the desk.
me: ikr. She used to make them for us when Jessie and I were kids.
jonas: Well, they're fucking delicious.

Jonas and I spent the day together, watching movies, texting about school and me teaching Jonas simple gestures in sign language. It was almost 8 o'clock at night before Jonas left.
I text him one last time before he rides home.
me: Bye! Have a safe trip back home! : )
He turns around to face me and texts.
jonas: I will. Don't worry.
After slipping his phone in his pocket, he grips my shoulders, moving me closer to him.
"Thanks for today. It was fun," he says, kissing my cheek.
I stand there, stunned, as he puts the helmet on his head and speeds away.
