The Words I Never Said [editing]

Waking up to a sleeping Danielle in my arms made a small smile form on my lips. The sun shines through her window, making me squint my eyes a little as I look at her. Her blonde hair is spread out messily around her head, giving it a cute bedhead-like look, and her long eyelashes flutter as she dreams. Danielle turns in her sleep, snuggling into my chest. Her breath on me sends shivers down my spine- the feeling I always get when she's around. I drape my arm around her waist, which pulls her even closer to me. The movement must have disturbed her, because her eyes start to flutter open.

"Morning," I say, my voice deeper than I thought it would be.

Danielle closes her eyes, smiling, and she stretches. The bandages on her head seem to have come lose while she was sleeping, because now it is lying on top of the white fluffy pillow her head was once laying on. She moves her casted arm out from under the sheets and pushes herself out of the bed with her good arm. I get up after her, watching Danielle as she walks around her room looking for something. I'm guessing the items were her sticky notes and a pen, because she grabs them from her desk and uses them to write me a note.

'Good morning!' she wrote on the first note. Danielle then hands me a second note. 'I'm going to go re-bandage my head. I'll be back in a minute.'

"Let me help you. It'll be kind of difficult to do that with one good arm," I reply. Danielle rolls her eyes jokingly and smiles.

I follow her to the bathroom, where Mrs. McAdams had put the extra bandages earlier.

"Now you sit here." I put my hands on Danielle's hips, gently lifting her onto the sink. This makes it easier for me because she isn't as short. Danielle points to a closet- probably to show me where the bandages are kept-, so I open it. On a shelf, there's a box with everything that the doctor prescribed and gave Danielle for full recovery. I take out the bandages and close the closet door. I turn back to Danielle. She looked so cute kicking her feet back and forth in patience. I just want to kiss her over and over again.

I roll out the bandage, putting the start of the roll onto the top of her head. I hold it in place with my right hand and begin rolling the white material around her head a few times until it's secure. I cut an ending off the roll with my teeth, and tuck the end into the wrapped material around Danielle's head, so it stays in place. Then I kiss her forehead and help her back off the sink.

'Thank you,' she signs to me.

"You're welcome." I kiss her forehead again, bringing her into my side. "Are you hungry?"

She nods her head.

"Do you want me to make you something?" I ask. The question must have shocked her, because she looks at me with wide eyes. "What? I can cook a few things without burning them."

She grabs my hand, dragging me to the kitchen. I rub her hand with my fingers as I open the fridge and scavenge through it. I take out butter, eggs, and milk. I notice some blueberries in the back, so I grab them as well.

"Will you grab me a large bowl please?" I let go of her hand as she gets a bowl out from a cabinet and hands it to me.

I grab the flour and measuring cups from the pantry and bring it back to the counter.

third person

As Jonas begins putting all the measured ingredients into a bowl and mixing them, Danielle watches with wonder. She watches his muscles as he whisks the batter together with the blueberries. They tense- she notices- when he speeds his whisking. She wraps her arm around his waist as he continues mixing the batter. When everything is mixed, Jonas turns around to face Danielle. He wraps his arms around her as well, bringing her into a hug. He rests his head on top of hers, his scent engulfing Danielle. She smiles into his chest.
