The last bell rings, signaling the dismissal of school. I walk back to my locker and put my books and binders away. After shutting my locker door, I can begin making my way to Danielle's locker. After the encounter with William, we planned to meet there, so we can talk a little before riding home.
"Hey, Danielle," I say enthusiastically.
She smiles and waves.
I walk up beside her, watching her as she puts her stuff away. "Ready to go?"
She nods, shutting her locker door.
I lead Danielle to Kristen, and I hand her the helmet like before. This time she doesn't reject the helmet and quickly slips it on her head. I hop in front of her on the bike, and she sits down behind me. Wrapping her arms around my waist, she squeezes tight.
I move the bike backwards, rev the engine, and begin flying forward. Danielle's arms squeeze tighter. I smirk.
Throughout the ride, I could feel Danielle rest her head on my back, the action warm and comforting. Throughout the ride, she would occasionally dig her finger nails into my sides, but it was only when I revved the engine.
I pull into her driveway and cut off the engine. After putting up the kickstand, I swing my leg off of the motorcycle. Danielle soon follows. This time, when she goes to take the helmet off, she actually manages to take it off.
Way to go, Danielle!, I think.
She leads me through the front door again and quickly leads me up the stairs to her room. Danielle opens the door and ushers me inside. She closes and locks it behind me. Looking around, I soak up the atmosphere.
It's just so calm and relaxing in her room. It feels homey-comfortable.
I watch Danielle as she grabs her phone from her backpack and makes her way back over to me on the bed. She hands me her phone. On the screen, a new contact with my name on it stares back at me. I type in the area code and the seven digits. She sits down beside me and begins typing. Seconds later, I receive a text.
Unknown Number: I thought this would be quicker.
I quickly change "Unknown Number" to dani.
me: True, but I have a question.
dani: Shoot.
me: Are those bruises and the black eye that William have fake.
dani: Yeah! And I don't know why he's blaming it on me!
How could someone do something this mean to someone so kind and sweet?, I think.
me: Now I want to punch that dude.
dani: I think it's because he wants to "reel you out to sea".
me: What?
dani: He wants to see if he can make you "unfriend" me.
me: Why are these assholes so obsessed with who you're friends with?
dani: idk. All I know is that my ex-best friend Amy commands them to bully me. She's basically their "queen bee".
me: You mean queen bee-otch.
dani: : )
dani: Yeah, she just "commands" them to bully me. It's been happening for some time, and throughout that period, they've taken every single one of my so called "friends".
me: How long is "some time"?
dani: 2.
me: 2??
She doesn't reply.
"Two what, Dani?" I say.
She looks away from me, so I grab her wrist gently, "Two what?"
Danielle looks down at her phone then types something. My phone vibrates seconds later.
