(I know Slytherin and Gryffindor have certain classes together, but of course, I wanted to change it up as to keep the main character involved)

"Where could they possibly be?" Hermoine whispered to Maurelle.

"Probably lost?" Maurelle said.

"What is it?" Tracy, who sat next to her, was curious.

"Harry and Ron" Maurelle said.

"Oh, yeah. You're right" Tracy looked around.

The door suddenly opened to reveal Harry and Ron in a hurry.

"There they are" Maurelle said.

"Phew, made it! Could you imagine the look on McGonagall's face if we were late." Ron said to Harry.

The cat that was sitting on the desk, jumped off and transformed into McGonagall. She then walked over to the two.

"That was bloody brilliant!" Ron said.

"Why thank you for that assessment, Mr. Weasley. Perhaps, it would be more useful if I were to transform you or Mr.Potter into a pocket watch, so that at least one of you might be on time."

"We got lost." Harry said

"Then perhaps a map... I trust you don't need one to find your seats" McGonagall said. After a talking-to, the two sat down in her first class.

"Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous forms of magic you will learn at Hogwarts, "she said, "Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back. You have been warned."

Then she changed her desk into a pig and back again. They were all very impressed and couldn't wait to get started, but they soon realized they weren't going to be changing the furniture into animals for a long time. After taking a lot of complicated notes, they were given a match and started trying to turn it into a needle. By the end of the lesson, only Hermione and Maurelle had made any difference to their match; McGonagall showed the class how it had gone all silver and pointy and gave the two girls a rare smile.

The class everyone had really been looking forward to was Defense Against the Dark Arts, but Quirrell's lessons turned out to be a bit of a joke.

"Www-wwould anyone c-ccare to t-teell me a basic and useful charm?" Quirrell said.

Hermione raised her hand.

"Ms. Granger" he said.

"Lumos!" Hermione said.

"Correct, points for Gryffindor" he said.

"Lumos? The light charm" Draco scoffed.

"I think it's underestimated. Helped me a lot when I was escaping out of the vampire's lair" Quirrell said.

"What's that awful smell?" Maurelle whispered to Draco.

"The garlic? It's from his fear of vampires" Draco said.

"No, when he got closer, there was a pungent smell. From his turban" Maurelle said.

"Maybe he stuffed garlic there too" Draco joked.

Maurelle took her wand out.

"What are you doing?" Draco said.

Harry noticed Maurelle and Draco were talking and wondered what they were whispering about. Draco just gave him a glare back.

"Revelio" Maurelle whispered.

"How do you know that?" Draco said.

"Reading" Maurelle said.
