Thomas's POV:

There were rattling noises. I threw up. I was moving. I was sweating. I was confused. I was dizzy. I was in...in a cage. But it was moving. Upwards. My heart raced. It was moving fast. And it was dark. There was little light in the big cage. I was lying down. I sat up. And something screeched behind me. I yelled out and backed away from the box behind me. I stood up; it was difficult. The box started moving faster. I looked up. I could see a wall or roof. I was going to crash into it. I started to panic. "Hello?!" I cried. "Help! Help me!" My voice sounded odd.

I banged on the top roof of the cage. "HELP!!" I tried again. Suddenly, the box came to a sudden stop. First the light turned red. Then green. And then the lights went out. It was quiet. The only noises I could hear were my panting, the panting from the thing inside the box across from me and some thing else breathing. Then the roof opened, not the cage roof, but the roof I was gonna smash into. And light came pouring in. It was blinding. I covered my eyes with my hand. Then as my eyes adjusted, boy heads came into view. They were staring down at me. And laughing. Then they opened the cage roof doors. And a tall and skinny boy with light brown hair, blue eyes, and a nose that was the size of a small fist that resembled a deformed potato, was the first out of all the boys. He jumped into the cage, and went in front of my face. His teeth were a light yellow. "Day one, greenie." He said. "Rise and shine." And yanked my shirt. I got flung into the air and landed on the grass, hard. I faced upward. I was surrounded by the boys. What are they gonna do to me?  They were laughing and smiling. "I could use some help in the kitchen." One boy said. I panicked. There was an opening, through the boys. I didn't think twice. I got up and pushed a boy out of my way, and took off. "Whoa!" "Hey!" "We got a runner!" I heard from the group. I ran and ran. Until I tripped and face planted. The boys burst out laughing at me. I groaned. It didn't really hurt. But then I looked up. Tall, cement walls surrounded us. I stood up. I was in a clearing. There was little trees, some huts and fires. And beyond that, the walls. "Yeah! Take it all in!" Someone yelled. They were clapping and laughing and hooting. Oh my god. I thought. Were stuck in here.

Newt's POV:

The boy took off running. S'what they all do when they first enter the bloody Glade. The rest of the group were clapping for him. I turned around and jumped into the box, to haul the supplies out. There was a live pig as well. And... and something else. I stepped towards the blanket that looked like it was covering a... a body. I patted my hand down, softly on the blanket. The thing didn't move. I looked towards the group; they weren't paying attention to me. I grabbed a fist full of the blanket. And yanked.

"Bloody hell..." I said. Lying on the floor of the box, was a girl. I turned to the group. "Guys." I said. They didn't turn. "GUYS!" I yelled. Some of them jumped. They turned. Most of them looked shocked. I couldn't blame them. I ever rarely yelled. But this was kinda an emergency. We never got a girl before. And no one ever came up at the same time. Gally was the first to speak. "What, Newt?" I uncovered the rest of the girl. They all gasped. Gally jumped into the box, with me. He looked confused for the first time I ever saw him. "Help me get her up." He said. He grabbed her legs, I grabbed under her armpits. Her hair was a light brown. It brushed my arm; it was soft. "Where are we taking her, Gally?" I asked him.

"Jeff and Clint." He answered. I was about to ask why, when something wet touched my bare arm. I looked. It was red. The part of her head, that wasn't visible to me while she was lying on the floor, was bleeding. We started walking faster. We arrived the the med-jacks hut and placed her on a cot. Jeff and Clint came running. "Is there an emergency?" Jeff asked.

"Not really." Gally said. "But look, guys, she's a girl." He pointed to her. Jeff and Clint just stood gaping at her. Then Jeff came forward. He got out a cloth and started dabbing it on the wound on her head. She stirred and said, "Newt...." All three boys turned and stared at me. I didn't know her. I've never seen her before, at least not that I remember. I shook my head, and went out of the hut. I saw Alby. He was with the new greenie, who looked confused as shuck. "Hey, you alright, Alby?" I called. He turned to face me and I ran to him. He laughed. "Green bean, meet Newt. When i'm not around, he's in charge." I shook the boys hand and said to Alby, "Haa, well it's a good thing you're always around then." I turned to the boy. "Listen, that was some dash you made earlier, you know the first second, I thought you had the chops to be a runner. Till you face planted." Alby laughed. "That was great." I said. The boy just looked more confused.

"Wait, runner?" He asked. Me and Alby just exchanged looks.

"Newt, do me a favour." Alby said. "Go and find Chuck?" I cast one more look at the boy.

"All right."
