Blair's POV

It was a bright morning, when I woke. And, the first thing I saw were the gladers gathering around the Maze entrance. I was confused, till I remembered the events of the night before. I sprung up, pulled on my boots, and ran as fast as I could to where the boys were gathering. And saw Thomas and Minho, in the middle kneeling next to Alby, who was on the ground. "Thomas?" I asked out loud, deeply relieved and happy. He looked up and time froze. He didn't smile, just shoved the boy's that were in my way, out of his way and picked me up and hugged me, swinging me around. I hugged him tight not wanting to let go. "Oh my god, Thomas. You-you're alive. Oh my god," He put me down, and we pulled away, our arms still around each other. Then he put his finger under my chin, tilted it up and our lips meant. I heard gasps from the boys. But I didn't care-at the moment. After our kiss, we pulled away. "You saw a griever?" Chuck asked Thomas.

"Yeah, I saw one." He said, dazed.

"He didn't just see it," Minho said. "He killed it."

I felt this burning at the back of my head. I turned around to see Gally glaring at me, but I moved and found out he was glaring at Thomas. I felt my lungs deflate. I felt so guilty. I turned to Thomas. "We need to talk," He seemed distracted.

"I'm sorry, Blair, not now." He said and the gladers started walking to the homestead.

"Things are changing." Gally said. Everyone was gathered in the homestead and Thomas was sitting in the back, behind Gally, who seemed pissed. I kept my head down as I felt his gaze sweep over me, but I kept looking back up at Thomas, who was expressionless. "There's no denying that." Gally continued. "First Ben get's stung in broad daylight. Then Alby." He turned around. "And now our greenie here, has taken it upon himself, to go into the Maze." I watched as Thomas looked down. He didn't look angry or guilty. Just tired. "Which is a clear violation, of our rules here." Gally spoke.

"Yeah, but he saved Alby's life." Frypan said. Gally looked at him.

"Did he?" Gally asked. "For three years, we have coexisted with these things." He turned back to, Thomas and pointed at him. "And now, you've killed one of them." He turned back around and our gazes meant, but I looked at Thomas. "Who know's what that could mean for us."

Newt straightened up from leaning on a pole next to Gally. "Well, what do you suggest we do?" He said, smart-assy. Gally looked at him, as if it were obvious. "He has to be punished." Yells of disagreement and agreement let out. I was angry at Thomas for putting me in fear, but I was proud of him for staying alive and saving Alby. I guess I disagreed. The voice's quieted down and Newt spoke up. "Minho, you were there with him, what do you think?" He asked Minho who was across from him and Gally. Minho thought for a minute. And sighed.

"I think, in all the time we've been here, no one's ever killed a griever before. When I turned tail and ran, this dumb shank, stood behind to help Alby." Everyone's head turned to look at Thomas. "Look, I don't know if he's brave, or stupid, but whatever it is, we need more of it." There was a moment of silence. "I say we make him a runner." He said and that silence was gone. More murmurs of disagreement and agreement rang through the homestead. "A runner? What? Minho, let's not jump the gun here." Frypan said. Chuck was trying to start a chant for Thomas, but gave up. Newt looked amused and looked towards me. He smiled and laughed, but I couldn't here him over the noise. I smiled and chuckled too.

"If you want to throw the newbie a parade that's fine," Gally shouted and all was quiet. "But if there is one thing, that I know about the Maze, it is that you do not f-" Suddenly there was a noise, of metal and gear's groaning. My first thought was the Maze door's. They shouldn't be closing this early. Everyone's head turned sharply to it. It was coming from outside. Newt and Gally exchanged surprised looks. And an alarm blared off. Everyone started getting up and running outside. Thomas stood up slowly and I did too. I went to him. And took his hand. He squeezed it. "Are you okay?" I asked him. He nodded down at me. And we both ran after the boys, hand in hand. We were outside now. "Wait, wait, I know that sound." Thomas said to me.

"The box, it's coming back up." Chuck said beside us.

"It shouldn't be." Minho said behind us. We ran to it with the boys. Newt and Gally arrived first. They exchanged look's and then reached to lift up the metal doors. I watched as Newt jumped down into it. Everyone now was surrounding it. "Newt, what do you see?" Someone asked.

Newt looked up, confused. "It's a girl." My heart stopped. Another girl. I felt excitement. Relief at not being the only girl anymore. "I think she's dead." Newt said. Then my heart really stopped. My excitement went away. My shoulders sagged down in disappointment. "What's in her hand?" Gally asked. Newt bent to pick it up. He read it aloud. "'She's the last one, ever.'" His eyes meant mine, questionably. "What the hell does that mean?" He asked. Then suddenly, the girl gasped awake, the boys jumped up. And looked at me and Thomas. Her eyes darted back and forth between us. "Thomas... Blair..." Then her eyes rolled into her head and they closed and she fell back asleep. Me and Thomas looked at each other, just as everyone's head looked up to look at us. He looked confused. I felt confused. I have never seen her, not that I remembered before. "Do you still think i'm overreacting?" Gally asked, cold.
