Blair's POV
The light entered the small tunnel, from the crack of the open door. I glanced at Newt, scared and a little bit confused. He glanced back, with the same emotions. Teresa stood in front of the door. She pushed it open more and more light came in.
My eyes adjusted. She looked back, and then forward and walked out. Everyone started walking and went out. We came out into a long hallway, a corridor. With pipes running along the walls. It was dark, besides the area we stood in. Then there was a clicking sound. And more and more and more lights turned on all at once, leading two ways down the hall.
We decided to go right and walked down the hall, till we came to another door, with a green light overhead saying 'exit'.
"Seriously?" Frypan asked. I slightly smiled. Thomas then, walked up to the door and gripped the handle, slowly. He pushed it down and the door opened. I swallowed, afraid of what we might find behind the door. Thomas pushed the door open and an alarm was heard ringing out inside.
Inside, there were people lying on the ground in different spots. It was clean and gray. Another hall. Thomas went inside and we followed after him. Lights were flashing. There was a man in a white lab coat, with a red streak on the wall above him, lying on the ground. My stomach churned. We stared at him, but continued to walk.
There was a window, on one side and I looked into it. There were covered bodies with red spots on them. Newt grabbed my shoulders and gently led me away from the window. What had happened? Up ahead, there was another man lying on the floor, but he was dressed in black clothes and had a gun. "What happened here?" Winston asked. Just what I had thought.
We walked more, and at the end of the hall, came a room. We went in. It looked to be some sort of lab. There were computers in the middle and on the walls. In the middle there was what looked like a small stage with stairs leading off of it. Everyone ventured around the room. I walked away and saw there was blood on some computers.
Newt was at a computer set and I came beside him. "So they were watching us." He said. "This whole time." I looked at him, confused and then at the computers. On one of them, was the Maze. More in the glade. I quietly gasped. Something about being watched like this, was horrifying.
If they watched us, that would mean they saw everything. I thought of me and Thomas in the woods and blushed. I looked around to Thomas but he was at a computer set, staring across the room at Teresa. She was staring back at him, as well. Newt got up from leaning on the computers and Thomas looked away. I watched as he slowly lowered his finger to a button on a keyboard. He pressed it and the big screen on the other side of the room turned on. "Hello," A voice said from it. "My, name is doctor Ava Paige." My vision blurred and something else flew into my vision.
"Meet, Ava Paige. She's the head of this whole faculty and company." The man tells me. The woman he's introducing me too, is a blonde, maybe 40 year old woman. She smiles at me and I hold out my hand.
"An honor." I say. We finally meet, I think. She smiles wider...
I gasped and stumbled a bit, but no one noticed. They were all at the screen. I walked to it and joined them. "I'm the director of operations of the World Catastrophe Killzone Department. If you're watching this, that means you have successfully completed the Maze trials." The lady on the screen said. I was confused. Maze trials? It didn't make sense. It did, but I didn't want to believe it.
"I wish I could be there in person to congratulate you..." The woman on the screen continued. "But circumstances seem to have prevented it. I'm sure by now, you must all be very confused... angry... frightened." The people behind her on the screen started moving around rapidly.
"I can only assure you, that everything that's happened to you... everything we've done to you... it was all done for a reason." Anger flared in my chest. Good reason? They put kids in a Maze, tortured us in a Maze for good reason? I shook my head and bit my lip. "You won't remember, but the Sun has scorched our world." The image on the screen changed. It was now the sun. "Billions of lives lost to fire...famine... " The image was now cars and buildings on fire. I looked at Newt beside me. He looked terrified. "Suffering on a global scale." The image changed again to the after view of burned houses. "The fallout was unimaginable." And then the screen showed burnt people. I looked down, my stomach in knots. I was breathing rapidly.
I then felt fingers, curl themselves around my fingers. I looked down. It was Newts. He held my hand and squeezed it. He was sweating. I realized we were both putting each other at ease.
"What came after was worse. We called it the flare." There was now a diagram of cells. "A deadly virus that attacks the brain." A brain was shown. "It is violent... unpredictable... incurable." A man was shown on the screen. His veins were extremely dark and popping out. He had blood or a dark liquid drool out of his mouth and he was trying to escape the hold the doctors had on him. "Or so we thought." I strained my ears to hear this. "In time a new generation emerged that could survive the virus. Suddenly, there was a reason to hope for a cure. But finding it would not be easy. The young would have to be tested, even sacrificed." I frowned. Sacrificed? Were they planning on killing us for a cure that we probably couldn't supply them?
"Inside harsh environments, where their brain activity could be studied. All in an effort to understand what makes them different. What makes you different." I shook my head again and sucked in a breath. It was suddenly getting hot in here. "You may not realize it, but you're very important. Unfortunately, your trails have only just begun. As you will no doubt soon discover, not everyone agrees with our methods. Progress is slow, people are scared. It may be too late for us..." Behind her people in black clothes and guns came in and started shooting the lab coated people. "For me... but not for you. The outside world awaits." A black clothed person started shooting at her window behind her.
"Remember..." She reached down and brought up a gun. The window behind her was starting to crack. She brought the gun to her head. Her breathing turned into pants.
"Wicked is good." She said and shot herself. I looked away, quickly. Thomas looked away too. He was staring behind me. I followed his gaze. There was a woman in the other room, lying on the floor. He walked past me and went slowly to her. Everyone followed. It was her.
Then the door opened. The only other door in the room, besides the one we came in. Everyone turned to it and stared down it. "Is it over?" Chuck asked.
"She said we were important." Newt said. "What are we supposed to do now?" He looked towards Thomas. Everyone was staring at him. I let go of Newt's hand. He didn't seem to notice.
"I don't know." Thomas whispered. He looked around and back at the door. "Let's get out of here." He took a step, and then,
"No." Everyone swiftly turned around. A boy had said no. A boy, who had a gun. Who was tear streaked. And that boy was,
Gally.

The Maze Runner (my version)
Science Fiction(COMPLETED!) This book is based on the movie. Not the book. In the world of the Maze Runner, you come up in the box with Thomas. That is the only difference in here. And you are the main character. So technically you are Thomas, like in James Dashne...
