I knew this was coming but everything still felt like a shock. I never knew this would be happening so soon.

I'm expected to get married because I'm the oldest of the family and after 24 years of keeping me hidden and out of the way. He is deciding to bring me out
So everyone can see the "perfect daughter" he had 'raised'.

There were days I felt like rolling into a ball and sobbing until I drown in my tears and today felt like one of those days.

I will never be able to experience love for real like I have always dreamed of.

Knowing the family that I come from and the status they have created for themselves, they will never let me divorce unless is either it is for a sensible reason like mafia-related work or if my parents are dead and they won't know.

But they were quite young when they had me and don't look like they're going anywhere anytime soon.

I felt a tear roll off my cheek. I am now giving my life to a man who doesn't care about anything but what he's getting from me and I won't get a way out.

I am told I'm not enough.
I am told I'm not smart.
I am told I'm a waste of time.
I am told I waste potential talent.
I am told I'm lazy.
I am told I'm stupid.
I am told what to say.
I am told how to smile.
I am told I was such a disappointment growing up.
I am told men do everything better.
I am told It is hell in the city, I'll come running back.

Fair.

All fair. But in this case. I'm getting married to a man I don't like and that is something I'll never forget.

"No. My sister will not marry you!"  Alex speaks up.

Christian chuckles. "It's not my choice or yours." He points his fingers to the gun on his waist. "This gun should have been the thing that ended your life today. If I were you, I'd shut the hell up before the deal is off, you die and make your sister and mother cry."

My brother narrows his eyes. Christian tilts his lips "I don't think you want that. Do you?"

Alex clenches his jaw tight.

I push my lips together trying not to make a sound before I break down in a load of sobs.

Before anything else is said, the important-looking man walks into the room again his eyes on Christian.
"Mr and Mrs Romero are here sir."

Christian nods. The guards at the back of the room remove the cuffs off of my brother. Alex winces in pain as they slightly push against his wound while doing so.
