Holy shit.

I run out of bed and make my way to the bathroom quickly to get ready.

I have four important meetings today back I'm New York which is a very long drive from Lockwood. I had set an alarm for an early time but still managed to sleep in.

I couldn't stop thinking about this kiss Christian and I shared yesterday. It was unexpected but felt right. Things have been getting better for me and I like that.

"Good morning ma'am. You're up early today. How's your head?" Carlo asks.

"Getting better. I have really important meetings today. And I need to drive out far."

"I didn't know. Will Dante drive you?" He asks and I shake my head no.

"I'll be driving myself today. I'll be out for the day and be back before diner and I wouldn't want anyone to wait up for me that long."

"Ma'am I'm going to have to check with the boss if that's okay. I'm your bodyguard that's what I'm hired to do."

"Don't you want to sit and relax today? You always follow me out and sit in the car and do absolutely nothing."

Carlo grins. "Not nothing. I have lots of things to do in New York today and you heading there is a lovely excuse."

I narrow my eyes with a slight smile. "Carlo?" I call his name cheekily.

He straightens his posture. "Yes ma'am?"

"Do you happen to have a certain someone you'd like to see?"

Carlo blushes giving me my answer. "I'm happy you found someone, Carlo." I smile at him. "Do you want to invite her along so you don't get bored? You can both sit in my staff room at my office." I offer he nods and thanks me.

Happy I made him smile, I make my way downstairs and sit at the table. Aria yawns. "Morning sweetie." She greets me, hugging me from behind.

"Morning gorgeous," I reply sitting straight. Giovanni twists his face, his face reading disgusted as he stares at his cousin.

"Ew. You look awful." He says. Aria sticks her middle fingers up, clearly not in the mood to argue.

Cameron and Xavier sit at the end like they usually do seeming to be in deep conversation.

"Sebastian is getting on my nerves." She grumbles quietly to me.

I frown. "What happened?"

"He wouldn't leave me alone at the ball the other night. He's been acting like a jealous freak for no reason. I was so close to getting that guy's number and-" she pauses frowning at me. "What? What are you smiling?"

"He likes you. It's giving enemies to lovers." I gush.

Her eyes widen as she hits me on the shoulder. "Absolutely not! Do not bring book tropes into this. He doesn't like me."
