CHAPTER TWENTY TWO
THE pain from that unexpected punch was excruciating. Valeska couldn't even move because she's scared it would hurt more. The scratches on her face and the multiple punches on her head from her mother made her body felt weak.
Her very own mother locked her up inside the supposed room of their maid. Her father kept on telling her before Valeska left France, that she doesn't need to worry about house chores because he already provided her that.
She's laying on the cold floor, in pain and groaning. She doesn't even have a strength to utter a word. That was the first time she experienced being physically hurt. And what saddened her was the fact that it's her own mother who did to her and her live-in partner.
The more she moves or closes her eyes, the more she felt the misery. In that cold dark room, she's alone and that's what made her weak. If only she was still with her dear father, this wouldn't happen to her.
Valeska didn't fully understand the words but she kinda understood what it meant for some reason.
Valeska got alarmed when after a while, she heard the clicking sounds of the doorknob. It's still very dark. She didn't even bother to turn on the light. There's a small window but it's closed and covered with thick curtains.
Using all the strength that left, Valeska tried to get up to sit on the floor. She rested her back on the wall.
The creepy look of Rodolfo scared her again. He smiled at her in a way that can make her tremble in fear.
"Kumain ka! Wag kang mag inarte!" He almost throw her the tray.
The evil leveled their faces. And when she avoided his gaze, he carelessly grabbed her jaw to make her look at him.
"Humanda ka. May kliyenteng magpupunta dito mamaya."
"What do you mean?!" She slapped his hand on her jaw but he only make his hold worse.
"Your mother... selling you. Okay? We get money later."
