CHAPTER FORTY ONE
THE two red line made her hands trembled while looking at her pregnancy test kit. Though she's kinda expected that she could get the positive result because of her morning sickness, it's still overwhelming to know that she's indeed pregnant.
Itinaon talaga na gawin iyon ni Valeska habang wala si Rashid. He's in town to do the grocery because she doesn't feel well to go outside. Alam niya rin kung bakit gano'n ang pakiramdam niya noong mga nakalipas na araw.
Hindi madali ang mga nararanasan niyang sintomas ng pagbubuntis. Pakiramdam niya ay sobra-sobra ang pagbabago ng pag-uugali niya. Talagang mas lamang na iritado siya kay Rashid at sa bawat kilos nito. Iniiyakan niya pa ang walang ka-kwenta-kwentang bagay.
Her lips trembled when she got her cellphone to inform her friends and Rashid's mom about the result of her pregnancy test. Nagpapasalamat siya na wala si Rashid sa paligid dahil natatakot siyang maging sobrang emosyonal at hindi makakabuti 'yon sa anghel na nasa sinapupunan niya.
Valeska caressed her stomach. Napalunok siya at naramdaman ang pawis sa kanyang noo. Mabagal na naglakad siya papunta sa balkonahe ng silid para makalanghap ng sariwang hangin.
She admit that she's scared. She doesn't know how to be a good mother. She was raised by a mother who does nothing but to make her life miserable. Kaya paano niya malalaman kung tama ba ang gagawin niya sa magiging anak niya. Kung lumaki siya na hindi nakaramdam ng tamang pag-aalala at pagmamahal galing sa sariling ina?
Valeska dialed Rashid's mom. Of all the people that cares for her, she knew that the only woman who could give her the best advice to be a good mother is Tracia Montecarlo.
"Hello, dear? Leigh, how you doing?" The motherly warm voice soothed her.
"T-Tita, uh, I... I took the pregnancy test."
"Oh? How was it?"
Valeska swallowed the bile on her throat. Sa malayong drive way ay natanaw niya na ang sasakyan ni Rashid. She panicked. Parang gusto niyang magtago! Hindi niya alam bakit gano'n ang nararamdaman niya. She just don't want to see him or even speak to him about the result. She couldn't!
"I'm... p-pregnant," she whispered.
A sighed of relief echoed her ear. Then followed by a soft short laugh. Napangiti siya nang malaman na ang pagbubuntis niya ay magandang balita para sa mommy ni Rashid. Malaking bagay 'yon sa kanya. She needs a solid support because she's doubting herself that she could do the pregnancy alone. Not now that she don't want to be with Rashid.
"Leigh! I am so happy to know that. I've been praying about your pregnancy. Kumusta ka? How do you feel? Do you have morning sickness?"
Napakurap siya nang nagbadya ang luha sa gilid ng kanyang mga mata. Hindi niya akalain na ang simpleng pangangamusta sa nararamdaman niya ay magpapalambot ng puso niya.
That is one of the reasons why she liked Tracia Montecarlo so much. Because she's thoughtful and always showed her how much she cares for her. Hindi lang bilang mapapang-asawa ng anak nito. Kundi bilang isang tunay na anak nito. Something that her mother failed to do.
"I have a very bad morning sickness, Tita. I get very emotional too. I always throw a fit with Rashid," she winced with the realization.
"My son will surely understand you. Alam niya na?"
"He have idea na pow pero I just took the pregnancy test. He's here na. I'll tell him palang."
Rashid parked his raptor at the garage. Nakita niyang lumabas ito sa driver's side at nagpunta sa backseat para kunin ang mga pinamili. Nang tila mapansin ang paninitig niya, nag-angat ito ng tingin sa banda niya.
