In Chapter 23, titled "Aza Howls," Samael hears howling in the distance, reminiscent of the wolf-like beasts from the land of Azazel. He dismisses it as just wolves, but Abbie senses that something is off. As they approach a pond, Samael sees harmless-looking wolves, but the howls continue to unsettle him. Suddenly, four-legged beasts emerge from a black dim sphere, resembling the creatures Samael fought in Azazel's land but faster and more heavily armored.

Samael prepares for battle, confident in his unusual long steel sword. Abbie expresses concern about the viciousness of the creatures, but Samael remains unfazed, referring to them as "puppies." However, he soon realizes that these creatures are tougher than he anticipated, their armor resistant to his sword. Determined, Samael uses his teleportation technique to dodge their attacks and continues to fight.

After defeating the four-legged beasts, Samael moves northeast and arrives at an old church. He stands before it, contemplating its decay. Abbie questions whether they should enter, and Samael assures her that they will find a secret passageway underground. Abbie asks about the dangers they may encounter, and Samael playfully dismisses her concerns, reminding her that she is not real. However, Abbie challenges him, asserting that she is created from one of his own.

As they approach the church courtyard, a red barrier blocks their path, and the four-legged beasts reappear. Samael engages in battle once again, utilizing his teleportation technique and the power boost from his crisma amulet. He defeats the creatures and proceeds towards the church doors, wondering what awaits him inside.

With the area cleared, Samael approaches the church doors, ready to enter. Abbie asks if he is prepared, and Samael affirms his readiness as they step into the unknown.
