After bringing Brunhild down, Dandelion started walking in random directions and bumping into people; Lacrie hurried down and brought her back to their place.
"So cool Brunhild's gonna fight," said Dandelion as Lacrie helped her sit down.
"I feel a bit sorry for her," said Lacrie.
"Yeah, I think it was fate," said Dandelion. "Like, I bet she was gonna have to fight no matter what her player wanted."
"Player? What do you mean?" asked Lacrie.
"Ahaha whoops," said Dandelion. "I'm SO high right now. Hey," she said, giggling and pointing at Lacrie's concerned expression. "You look a lot like this friend I have called Lacrie. She's sooo pretty and nice and super, like, wise, you know? I bet you'd really like her."
"And now," said Lord Pomegranate Flabbergast, "As chance would have it, two contenders from the Adventurer's Guild, Feenschwanz, Ezra and Verano! Don't go easy on each other, now!"
Verano held up his glowing sword, the same one which had refused to cooperate with Brunhild that morning. "And my sentient blade, Thunderbringer!"
"Aww, I love that sword," said Dandelion.
"I won't hold back!" came Thunderbringer's distinctive metallic voice.
"Please don't," said Ezra, drawing her own blade. If it was magic, it didn't show it.
Ezra and Verano entered into a lightning fast dance. Ezra jumped and weaved, dodging Verano's every swing. Then Thunderbringer hit Ezra's sword and it shattered. Without missing a beat, Ezra drew another sword and continued to dance.
"Neither one is giving an inch!" came Pomegranate's impressed voice.
Suddenly one of Ezra's blows connected with Verano, in the chest. It bounced off his armour but hit heavily enough that he was flung off his feet. Erza was upon him before he could get up and slammed his forehead with the pommel of her sword.
"Ouch, I thought I heard bone crunch there!" yelled Pomegranate with delight. "And our healers are on the scene! The match goes to Ezra!"
"Will he be... okay?" Kaergat asked Lacrie.
"You can heal almost any physical injury if you're quick enough," said Lacrie. "Even things like decapitation or brain trauma are okay for at least thirty seconds. The soul can't separate from the body that fast."
"I still don't like this much," said Kaergat.
"Tell me about it," said Lacrie, frowning in concern. Verano was now sitting up, two healers in red robes by his side.
"And now, as it happens, another Feenschwanz matchup!" announced Lord Pomegranate Flabbergast. "Brunhild Redmayne versus renowned wizard, adventurer, and the Boss of Feenschwanz himself... Chekhov!"
