Chapter 244: Midterms IV

On the very next day, it was then that time of the midterm exam wherein the evaluators would evaluate the practical exam of the students in the academy.  As much  as academic is important in terms of giving the grades of the students, the practical exam itself also held such level of importance, as it assess the 50% of the grades of the students.

Meaning if one excels in academic exams but fails in its practical, such student is still liable to fail since practical itself is 50% of the overall term grading. The Gritonnia academy only recognize students who excels among the generation of children in the kingdom. After all whoever graduates in such an academy will be sought after by various powers and is somewhat guaranteed a satisfied life.

Excluding the others who met their own downfall due to their deeds and others who died through some means and twist of fate, the majority of the students who graduated from the academy are well respected person and are living a fulfilling life.

This time the first half of the exam wasn't that difficult at all, since the students are instructed to cast a basic spell in order for the evaluators to assess on how much mastery does the students have in the basics. Following that the evaluators then instructed the students to cast some spells in accordance to the level of magic recorded.

Naturally they were asked to cast a basic spell first, following that they then asked to cast an intermediate spell and advanced spell after that level. Following then, the moment the evaluators asked the student to cast an even higher tier of spell above than advanced spell, some of the students finally got done in as they failed to even cast such level of magic.

The moment they failed in their three attempts, they were then instructed to leave the room as they were done being instructed by the evaluators. Those high tier spell were the following, first is mastery spell, then hybrid spells, then original spell, transcendent spell and so on. For Shun he only managed to reach in hybrid spell, before he got eliminated in the round of original spell.

Original spell is like what its name entails, it is a type of spell that one has created in the duration of students staying in this academy. Such spell was taught to the students during their first year, which was quite a detriment to Shun since he had only entered the academy during the half of the second year and wasn't able to take such class.

As for Sephiria and Aria, Aria had been eliminated the moment she failed to cast her mastery level spell. As for Sephiria she somehow managed to pass the transcendent level spell, by using the spell she had once casted when fighting the terrorist back in the Kingdom of Avalon. Since she reached such level alone in the entirety of the whole class, she then was held in full regards as she got a perfect score in this part of the practical exam.

After the first half of the exam, the other half exam was then commenced as this involved a practical combat of the students against the instructors. the evaluators for this part of the exam would grade the students overall stats, decision making, awareness, and even their will and power when contending against someone who is superior to them in combat. In that sense, this was done in the arena of the academy wherein the 3rd year students are waiting for their turn for this practical exam. Taking note that this type of practical exam is only available towards the 3rd year of the academy, meaning the practical test for the other year level are different from the 3rd year.

The battle against the instructors are time gated to only about 10 minutes of combat. the moment the 10 minutes are up, the battle would then be over and the grades will be assessed by the evaluators for an overall. So without further ado, the exam then officially commenced.

The very first class that were evaluated were the A class students in this phase, both Cedric and Wendy whom they are acquainted are going to be evaluated in front of everyone. As for the other guys who is regarded as part of Wendy's reverse harem squad, they too will be evaluated in fair judgment in front of everyone.

There wasn't much of a surprise in this part of the exam. Since the instructors serving as the students opponent in this exam is highly skilled in combat and somewhat strong, some of the students in class A are either defeated or were stalled by the instructors for 10 minutes. There was not at least one students who even managed to defeat the instructor. In fact even Wendy only lasted for 5 minutes before her opponent instructor got one under her and trapped in in its barrage of attacks.

However that soon quickly changed when Cedric was paired up with the new instructor of the academy, professor Nico. As everyone know professor Nico was a strong adversary to the point that he manage to held his ground against the champion team of the four academies competition. since he manage to attain that, everyone then recognized his strength as the spectating students held their breath for this battle. In fact even the evaluators were paying close since the crown prince of the country is going to start his own assessment.

In that sense in  just the first second of the battle, both Cedric and professor Nico begun fighting, as they immediately clashed against each other in the middle of the arena.

As Cedric utilized his light magic to fight against the opposing instructor, professor Nico on the other hand is utilizing his elemental magic in accordance to dealing with the crown prince attacks. But Cedric forte doesn't lie in magic at all, but rather his close quarter prowess. So taking this card by surprise, professor Nico was cau8ght off guard as he got immediately suppressed as he realized that Cedric's combat capability was greater than his.  

Without giving much of a single thought, Cedric begun his fierce clash against the professor by going all out from the start.
