Chapter 291: The Swordsman and The Lady

Back on the location where Akito and Iris are currently residing., both of t unanimously decided to follow the track along the crevice, as they soon reached the exit leading to an open area filled with tall grass, surrounded by a forest of trees on the other side.

Upon seeing such a huge open area, Iris couldn't help but exclaimed in delight, as she felt refreshed from the air of an open area. After all since she had spent the whole night in the crevice, Iris couldn't help but live with a clamp air all night. As a lady born of a noble lineage, such quality of air is unacceptable.

Luckily for Akito, Iris is not a picky person nor is she an upstuck noble. Due to that, he didn't have to endure an all night banter of complain due to the surrounding environments. Of course despite stating that, he still hears complain in every few moments whenever Iris notice something she despised. After all she still has her own standards.

As the vast open area stretched far and wide, both of them noticed a pile of loot in the middle of the field, all consist of stuff that they needed to survive. Tent, meat, clothes, and even weapons, everything was in the pile. Due to that anyone who sees that pile will naturally be attracted towards it.

Upon seeing such am attractive pile, Iris then quickly took a step forward to the field, only for Akitk to suddenly yanked her collar back and pulled her back into the shadow of the crevice.

"Agh! What the hell are you doing?" Asked by Iris as she coughed

"You can't expose yourself like that" replied by Akito

"What do you mean?"

Hearing her question, Akito then looked at the surroundings, as he inspected the grass, pile of loot, and even trees. It was unnaturally quiet for such an island teeming with life.

When a field of tall grass is unnaturally quiet, it can suggest that something unusual or potentially threatening is nearby. In nature, animals and insects create a constant background noise with their activities, such as birds chirping, insects buzzing, or the wind rustling through the grass. If these sounds suddenly stop, it could indicate the presence of a predator, a disturbance, or something out of the ordinary that has caused the local wildlife to go silent.

This kind of eerie quietness can evoke a sense of tension or unease, as it disrupts the normal, expected patterns of nature. It might be a signal to be cautious or alert for something hidden or unknown.

In this sense Akito couldn't make sense whether the hidden danger is a monster, an enemy, or a trap. Nevertheless this seemingly peaceful open meadow is too dangerous to traverse recklessly.

"Its too quiet... my lady, the natural way of nature makes sound no matter how empty a place is... it can be the sound of wind, drops of water, sound of insects and many more. However the only time when nature is silent is when a hidden danger lurks somewhere which even causes nature to turn silent"

"What?!?! Are you telling me there are enemy's nearby?" Asked by Iris as she scanned the area

"I'm not sure? I can't sense anyone within my proximity and you know damn well how wide my proximity is and how sensitive my senses is"

"You can't sense it? That is surprising"

In that moment in a stroke of coincidence, a pair of students suddenly rushed out from the forest, as they ran through the field, only to trigger some kind of an expected outcome, as numerous magic circles appeared all over the place and begun raining down fire on the pair of students reaching out for the pile of loot.

However their bombardment only manage to eliminate one of the pair, while the remaining pair managed to reach the pile of loot. Unfortunately before that student could reach out its hand, a monster who looked like a golem shaped samurai quickly cuts off the reaching hand, followed by killing the student who seemed to be about to scream from the pain of getting its hand sliced off.

Due to that before the student could even scream, he was killed, causing a pillar of light to emerge and streak back towards the cruise ship.

"That... that's the danger" Pointed out by Akito, causing Iris to be stunned on her feet

"How the hell can we get out of here then?"

"Well it's simple actually, we just jeed to get behind that pile of loot"

"Are you crazy? Didn't you just show me how dangerous that idea is? We wouldn't be able to even get pass that bombardment"

"Don't worry about the bombardment, you just need to make a cocoon like barrier around yourself, ill try to minimize the damage by parrying the attacks myself"

"Thats suicide!!!"

"I can do it, in fact I'm confident that I can do it"

"... alright what about that monster guarding g the pile of loot? Even if we pass through the bombardment, we would still get killed by that monster"

"Thats simple! With your magic, I want you to restrain it for a few seconds until I could catch up and get the aggro of the monster... once a got its attention, I need you to get all of the pile and prepare a spell to evacuate us in that place"

"That.... alright!"

Hearing that crazy plan, Iris couldn't help but hesitate for a bit, until she conceded and just execute Akito's plan. After all in this kind of situation where combat prowess is needed, Akito's judgement is better than her final decision.

With that Iris then begun to form her magic circle beneath her feet, as she suddenly ran forward causing everyone's attention to turn towards her and be designated as primary target for everyone who are aiming for the pile of loot.

In that moment Iris magic circle then got triggered, as a cocoon made out of ice surrounded her, while she continues to move forward. Alongside it, faced with numerous projectiles, Akito begun to make his move as he zipped through the air with his quick attacks.
