Chapter 222: Potential of Magic

[Gritonnia Academy]

Four hours has passed, the practical lesson held by professor Nico had finally concluded whi9ch left the students hungry for knowledge. After all through the lesson, professor Nico had poked the students curiosity for knowledge in regards to magic as a deeper meaning itself. Whats more surprising is that the topic is centered around wordless magic, a type of magic than relies on thought imagery for instant casting.

Wordless magic or a  nonverbal spell was a spell which was performed without the casting mage or sorcerer speaking the incantation aloud. Performing spells non-verbally was very difficult and required a good deal of practice, as it required concentration and mental discipline alone.

Mastering such skill would even put a master of magic to the test, that is the reason why a caster mastering wordless magic is quite rare and precious to any form of group made by man. In this case if Shun even wanted to, he could possibly cast wordless spells due to the abundance of thought imagery he has derived from all forms of entertainment back on earth.

After exiting professor Nico's class, all the student who underwent the curriculum were then given an hour of break in order for them to calm themselves and prepare for the next class. During this time the students went on their own way to spend the hour they got and waste them on activities that could entertain them for the time being.

In this moment aside from associating himself from Cedric who is always surrounded by the future important people of the kingdom, he instead went to the wide garden of the academy and mostly waste his time admiring the flower scenery that was maintained by the academy's gardener.

As he spent his time alone, he couldn't help but look back on what was taught in class as he sist all alone on a bench in the academy's garden. If one is confused on why Sephiria isn't with him, it is all due to the fact that Sephiria is currently invited by some girls in class for a morning cup of tea. As a noblewoman, she naturally cant refuse such kind offer, so Shun was left alone to entertain himself.

As time passes by and students walk pass him from time to time, he then suddenly noticed a familiar flower that is quite different from all the flowers in the garden. From the corner of his eyes, he noticed a blue spider Lily that shouldn't have existed in this world. Or better yet, since he expects that this world and earth are different, then maybe such flower would not exist in counter part to earth itself.

 Lycoris sprengeri (Electric Blue Spider Lily) is a charming bulbous perennial boasting attractive umbels of 4-6 fragrant, trumpet-shaped, pink flowers, up to 2 in. across (5 cm), with 6 slightly reflexed tepals adorned with tie-dye blue streaking at their tips. A spectacular choice for late-season color, the flower color varies from pink tipped with blue to deeper pink to almost entirely electric blue flowers. 

Lycoris sprengeri (Electric Blue Spider Lily) has strap-shaped, green foliage that disappears in July. In August, the flower spike bursts forth and attracts pollinators. Growing 14-16" tall, Electric Blue Spider Lily is ideal for planting among groundcovers or among annuals or perennials. It also makes an excellent cut flower. 

Blue Spider Lily (Lycoris sprengeri) represents truth and calm energy. It is also associated with stability in life, freedom of doing something, magic, stability, truth, pureness, independence, inspiration, optimism, and of inspiration. The Blue spider lily is associated with inner tranquility that is unshakeable. It is also believed that if one were to fully harvest and extract a blue spider lily, longevity could also be possible, naturally that could o0nly be considered as a myth even on earth.

In that moment, an old man sat beside him as it followed Shun's gaze and somwhat amused by his reaction towards such unusual flower.

"Quite a peculiar plant isn't it?"

"... Huh?"

hearing the old man's voice, Shun then turned towards its speaker as he was somewhat surprised that someone was able to get close to him without him being able to notice its presence.

"The flower i mean... you've been staring at it for quite awhile like a ghost"

"Huh? Oh! ah yes... it seems like i am..."

The moment Shun realized that the old man was talking about the flower, he simply nodded in accordance to his words in order to not raise any fuse with an elderly inside the campus.

"I dare say, its the first of its kind that i have ever seen, such flower does not exist even in the past... looks like something happened within this chaos of plants which led to the mutation and creation of such a new species of plant"

A mutation is a change in the DNA sequence of an organism. Mutations can result from errors in DNA replication during cell division, exposure to mutagens or a viral infection. In biology, a mutation is an alteration in the nucleic acid sequence of the genome of an organism, virus, or extrachromosomal DNA. Viral genomes contain either DNA or RNA. Since this garden has a large population of different plants, it is quite possible that two different plants had created such unknown flower through the mix of its DNA.

"Since its new... i was planning to give it a name"

hearing those words, Shun was slightly taken aback as he somewhat didn't expect to encounter a situation where a person would give an object a name and such word will be passed down through generations after generations. If that were the case, then he might be witnessing a moment in time that will be carved out in history.

Unfortunately there is only one thing that is in amiss and that is the naming sense of the old man.

"What should i call it? Peter? Simon? Unruly cabbage? Blue crown petals? unusual flower?"

As the old man think up of some name, he then turned his look towards Shun as he smiled for a bit before offering something shocking.

"How about you name it young man, cause if you don't i will name it blue strange flower whatchamacallit"

Being given the offer to name a new species and being pressured to do it or it will have a strange name, Shun then decided to use its name given on earth as he boldly named it upfront.
