(The Moment I Knew By Taylor Swift)

Cora's Pov

"Where is Karl?" I asked Cara as people walked around me.

"He will be here. He said he would be here." Cara said as my family laughed all around me.

A surprise party.

He planned a surprise birthday party for me.

Of course I am still upset about yesterday, but I realized that I can't control him. He has to make decisions for himself, and as much as i hate this one, i have to let him do it by himself.

"Cora!" My aunt shouted.

I looked at Cara and Chandler, giving them a smile, covering up the clear sadness, and I walked over to my Aunt with a smile on my face.

"Where is Karl? How are you guys doing?" She asked and I felt my heart drop.

"We are doing good." I said with a smile, and she nodded her head.

"You two are going to get married someday." She sighed with a smile on her face.

"I hope so. I'm gonna go get a drink, if you'll excuse me."

The Christmas lights were in every room, and I stared at the door from the kitchen. Waiting for him to walk in. I opened my phone, and tried to call him. My phone didn't even ring, which meant, his phone was dead or it was turned off.

I felt my breathing labor, as I looked around the room, hoping to see him already here. I knew I wouldn't. He didn't burst through the door with a giant smile on his face.

I walked past Cara and Chandler, quickly running up the stairs, going into my bedroom and into my connected bathroom. I heard my bedroom door open, as I stared at myself in the mirror. The forest green dress, my red lipstick, and now the tears that won't stop falling from my eyes.

"Cora..." Chandler was the first one to walk in, wrapping his arms around me. Cara closed the bathroom door, making sure that nobody would walk in. Once she was done, she wrapped her arms around me.

"He will be here, Cora." Cara said, her voice full of uncertainty.

"He probably got caught up in something." Cara spoke, and I just cried.

"He said he would be here." Chandler said, anger filling his voice.

"We are about to sing happy birthday!" I heard my mother scream and I pulled away from everyone.

Cara and Chandler stood with me as I composed myself before walking back downstairs. I stood in the middle of the room, as my mother lit the candles up with the lighter.

"Happy Birthday to you." Everyone started to sing as I stared at the door. I felt my heart start beating like crazy.

"Happy Birthday to you." I felt like the walls were closing in on me as I looked around at everyone.

"Happy Birthday to Cora." I tried to hold back tears as I forced a smile and looked around the room. But as hard as I tried, they fell.

"Happy Birthday to you." Everyone got quiet as they watched me blow out the candles.
