Karl's Pov

"She's leaving today." Chandler yelled through the phone, waking me up.

It's 5pm. I have been staying up all night and sleeping all day so I could avoid accidentally running into her. I worked on building my PC to start streaming.

Without being with Cora, I'm so focused on achieving my goals. I knew that she was right, and she knew where I was coming from. But sometimes things suck, and you have to lose to gain.

"What do you mean she's leaving?" I sat up quickly and my heart dropped.

I threw my blankets off of me, and quickly threw on a hoodie.

"She's putting her stuff in her car right now." Chandler said and I grabbed my keys quickly, running out of my bedroom and down the stairs.

"Fuck. I'm on my way." I said, hanging the phone up and getting into my car.

My hands shook as I put the key in the ignition and started to drive. I raced through our town, hoping I would make it in time. Hoping I would be able to see her before she left. I pulled down her street, and saw Chandler carrying things and putting them into her trunk.

I got out of the car, and jogged over to him. He looked over at me with a desperate look.

"Figure something out please." Chandler said, before walking inside. I stood there confused.

Do I go inside?

Do I stay out here?"

"Shit." Cora rushed out of the house, dropped things that were in her hands.

"Need help?" I asked calmly and she jumped. She stared at me, before closing her eyes.

"Why are you here?" She asked me, and I could see the pain in her eyes. I didn't know what to say.

Why am I even here?

"I wanted to see you." I responded and she carried the stuff to her car. I tried to take it from her hands and help her, but she didn't let me. She put the things in her trunk, and i saw Chandler and Cara looking out the window watching us.

"Don't say that, Karl." She said, her voice in a whisper.

"Why not?" I asked, as she turned to face me. Her hands on her hips, looking up at me.

"Because it's going to make it harder to leave." Her eyes filled with tears before she looked away from me.

"You were going to leave without saying goodbye!" My tone was filled with hurt. I was hurt.

"I would've said goodbye." She said, her tone full of uncertainty.

"Yeah. Over text?!" I raised my voice slightly before calming myself down.

"Karl. Please." She pleaded and I shook my head.

"I don't care if we aren't together anymore. But don't just leave without saying anything."

She looked up at me and I felt everything in the world stop. I brushed my thumb across her cheek and tears fell from her eyes.

"Cora, I'm still so in love with you." Her chest rose and fell quickly before she leaned into my touch.

"I have to leave." She said but she made no movement away from me.

"Don't go yet." I whispered, looking down at her. She looked down at my lips and then back up at me.

"I have to." We stood there in silence. My hand was still on her cheek. I didn't want to let go. I didn't want her to leave. I knew what would happen if she left. Everything would truly be over.

"Cora, please." I whispered, feeling my eyes burn from trying to hold back the tears.

"Karl." She closed her eyes, letting out a breath and I looked over at the window. Nobody was there. I knew time was racing toward her leaving. The sun was starting to set, causing me to look up at the sky. Sunsets were always our thing.

"Cora-" I started and I felt her arms wrap around me.

"Just hug me. Please." My body tensed up, before I relaxed and wrapped my arms around her. She cried into my chest, and I felt the tears run down my face.

She pulled away from me and turned her back to me, wiping her tears. The front door opened, and her mother walked out, crying her eyes out.

"Cora, I'm gonna miss you." Colleen cried into her daughter's arms as I stood there crying. Cara then ran outside, and Chandler followed quickly behind her.

Cara wrapped her arms around her sister, and Chandler wrapped his arms around both of them. Colleen stood there crying.

"Keep us updated on the car ride." Colleen said, as Cora pulled away from Chandler and Cara.

"I will, Mom." Cora checked her pockets, and closed the trunk.

"Goodbye. I'll see you guys soon..." Cora looked at the driver's seat, and I knew that we weren't going to see her anytime soon. Everyone else believed it, but Cora was so easy to read.

She got into the driver's seat and started the car. I stood on the sidewalk and watched her car pull away. I stood there not knowing what my next step was going to be. What am I supposed to do now?

"Karl, would you like to eat something?" Colleen asked, and I shook my head.

"I've gotta get home." I said before getting in my car and driving off. I didn't go home. Why the hell would I go home...

I parked at our spot, and I got out of the car, sitting on the hood of my car. And I finally fully broke. I let everything out. Everything that I have been holding in for the last few days. As much as I hate to admit it, I don't know if I will ever see Cora Davis again.

Cora was the love of my life, and I lost her just like that. Within a blink of an eye, I was officially, fully one of her exes.

Please turn those headlights around.

Now... I sit at our spot every day. Hoping that soon, those headlights will turn around.
