My apologies for the additional delay. I struggled a lot getting the beginning of this chapter written. I'm still not completely happy with it, but it works for now. Thank you so much for continuing to read Connected!

The house was quiet as we walked back down the steps and into the foyer. Chan squeezed my hand and pulled me close to him in front of the main room.

"You keep working. I'll look around for Lee Know."

I nodded and he kissed my forehead before walking the opposite direction, towards the office. I watched him go, then turned towards the main room myself.

I jumped when Lee Know moved in a chair. "Jeez."

Lee Know chuckled behind the newspaper that he had open in his lap. "You certainly slept well."

I shrugged and sat down in front of the computer, shaking the mouse to wake it up. "Going several days with inconsistent sleep will do that to you."

The monitor slowly came to life and I reopened the work I had done the day before. I read through the first section again. With decent sleep, I was able to read through it clearly, making only a couple changes.

Satisfied with that section I scrolled down to the security piece. I typed in a few commands and copied and pasted it into the mock program, watching as it executed itself almost perfectly. Man, good sleep was no joke.

"So where did the Captain go?"

"Oh." I turned back towards him. "He was looking for you actually."

"Welp, here I am."

"Want me to go grab him?"

Lee Know shook his head. "Let him poke around for a bit. I'm sure his curiosity was killing him. Besides," he shook the paper, "They finally published about your bug."

I snorted. "You're kidding."

He shook his head. "Nope. Says right here 'Internet security measures have been disabled for an indiscernible amount of time. We are also unsure as to when this security measure will be reengaged.'"

I shook my head and looked back at the monitor. "Basically, hey it's down, but we have no idea when it happened or when it will be fixed."

"When what will be fixed?"

I kept my eyes on the screen but smiled at the sound of Chan's voice as he came into the main room.

"The internet. News sources are just now reporting on it."

I felt the couch behind me move slightly as he sat down. "You're kidding me. It's been down and not counting the time for days and the news is just now picking it up?"

"Just how it is." I hit enter again.

The paper rustled as Lee Know moved a page. "Plus, media outlets have their own rules concerning internet usage and time limits. Otherwise, people would think that the government was trying to control or even silence the press."

Chan leaned forward onto his thighs. "Police have similar unrestricted measures, but we knew about it right away."

I turned to look at Chan. "That is true, however, you also have alerts specifically for this. That was how you were able to find me so quickly."

"So it's pretty much just gone on like normal with barely anyone noticing?"

Lee Know nodded. "Only the people that needed it, knew about it."

Chan turned to look down at me. "And who are the people who needed it?"

"Careful Channie," I patted his knee. "Your Captain is showing."
