I had laid my head down, fully intending to sleep. I had even closed my eyes and slowed my breathing hoping that my body would take over. But if I fell asleep at all, I either didn't realize it or it wasn't for very long.
Every so often I would get a whiff of mint and citrus and my heart would begin to race all on its own. It didn't matter that my brain knew it was from the soap that I had used. My heart on the other hand had other ideas. Ideas that I myself wasn't quite ready to think about just yet.
I barely turned my head when the door opened.
"Y/N?" Jisung asked.
I turned a bit more to face him.
"Oh," He grimaced slightly, "Coffee, I think?"
I nodded, my head on my arm still. He closed the door behind him and left me alone with my thoughts again.
A few minutes later Changbin came in, not even bothering to say anything and just sat down across from me.
He patted my arm, "We're going over the plan in here."
I drew my hand back and sat up, slumping slightly in the seat as the only response.
"Are you still mad at me?" I met his eyes and saw the worry in his eyes. Gone was any of the playfulness from the last 30 hours. Instead, he was genuinely concerned that he had upset me; someone who would be gone from his life once all of this was finished.
I shrugged "Does it matter?" I mumbled.
He nodded, "It does to me."
I thought for a few minutes waiting to give my answer. "Not really. You and Jisung have gone out of your way to be nice to me, but I'm still not thrilled about how everything happened last night."
He nodded again in understanding, "I'm sorry we tricked you."
"What's done is done. Now we move on and I leave." The reality started to crash against me. I wouldn't be here for very much longer. I wouldn't see them probably ever again.
"We did try to warn him. But he deserves to also have a shred of happiness every now and then."
"That may be true but with me? I'm off limits. You guys will never see me again after today." My voice broke slightly as I said it out loud.
"Jisung said practically the same thing. But in the end it was his decision to cross the line."
"Changbin, we both know that it wasn't just his decision." I said it quieter, so my voice wouldn't break again.
The door opened again and Changbin looked over, while I looked away, afraid of who was coming in.
"What no gratitude for the guy who brings you coffee?" Jisung joked.
I turned to see him holding several coffees.
Changbin got up to help him. "You even got me one?" He pinched Jisung's cheek, "You're too kind."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He looked towards me then back to Changbin. "No Captain yet?"
Changbin and I both shook our heads, while he scratched the side of his head. "He said he would be right in."
"Well then, let's sit and wait." Changbin nodded back towards me and the table.
They both came back over. Jisung set a coffee in front of me and sat down next to Changbin, across from me, placing a fourth coffee on my side as well. I didn't need to ask. I already knew who it was for.
We all sipped on our coffee in silence for several moments, expecting the Captain to walk in at any time. It seemed as though he was just as apprehensive about today as I felt.
