chapter 3~ inkigayo escape

You yawn loudly and groan as someone violently shakes you awake. Barely opening your eyes, you smell cheesecake and instantly know it's Jisung. The weight shifts off the bed after he realises you are awake.

"Wake up, you're MC for Inkigayo with Soobin today, and Channie Hyung told me you have to leave soon."
You fully shake awake and stretch your arm out. Check the lock screen on your phone, which is on the bedside table, to see the date' '13 September'. Of course, you had completely forgotten about what you were doing today with the intense training yesterday. The company had you be a co-MC for Inkygayo with Soobin for promotions for the upcoming album release.

"Thank you for waking me up. Ji, can you please make me coffee?"
He immediately runs out of your room in a frenzy.

"Y/N WANTS COFFEE. SOMEONE MAKE IT OR SHE WILL TURN INTO A BEAST."
You roll your eyes at his silliness and get out of bed and start to get ready. Finally, you walk out of the dorms with your duffle bag and iced americano which, after taking one sip you realise, is just water, ice and coffee grounds that you assume Felix made since he doesn't drink coffee. You arrive at the studio with your manager and are met by your stylist for the day. She hands you your outfit and brings you to the dressing room almost as soon as you greet her. This week, the prompt seemed to be brown and preppy.

She sits you down in a chair, and a hairstylist comes over and starts doing your hair. It hurts a bit as she pulls strands of hair to try and straighten them, but you obviously don't say anything. Once she is done, another lady comes over and does your makeup. It's quite a simple look but it looks really pretty. After all the prep for the show seems to be done you get up and thank everyone in the room and follow your manager to the star room where Soobin is sitting on his phone in the corner on a grey leather sofa. We actually have the same birthday and are quite close, so we converse informally. As he stands to greet you and your own staff from the company, you realise that our outfits, intentionally or not, are matching.

You sit down next to him and start talking about comebacks and our favourite songs. He was actually one of your best friends apart from the Stray Kid members as we met before debut because surprisingly you had first auditioned for HYBE Big Hit label and were trainees for 2 months but you ended up being eliminated at one of the monthly evaluations and didn't get in so you tried JYPE and did. The reason we clicked so well as friends was because Soobin never lied and was so funny, as well as Changbin and Yeonjun being really good friends so the 4 of us would hang out backstage, during award shows. Eventually, after half an hour of talking, our managers ushered us out of the room to get mic'd up and complete the sound check. We get handed the script just to look over it one last time and to revise anything that wasn't working out between you. Soon enough, it's time to air, and we start to introduce ourselves with our microphones.

"Hello, I'm y/n from Stray Kids."

"And I am Choi Soobin from Tomorrow By Together."

"And you are watching Inkigayo." We say together.

[ time skip ]

"Show show show."

The cameras turned off, and you bowed to the group we were just interviewing as they left the stage. You and Soobin stay behind a few more minutes to say goodbye to the audience, who also start filtering out of the studio. A staff member comes over and helps with unclipping our mic packs and checks if everything is in order. An assistant hurries over to the stage where all the staff have already begun to pack everything up and hands you both an iced coffee after taking your cue cards away. As you begin to walk off stage, you turn to Soobin.

"Soobin-ah, we should totally go out for dinner tonight or even order takeout."

"I am so down with that. I really need to catch up with you about so many things."
