Annie pulled me aside from the others that were doing hand to hand combat.
We have been dating for three and a half months now. She was really hard to get close to at first, but I eventually got to know her enough where she opened up to me and I eventually fell in love with her and asked her to be my girlfriend. She accepted instantly because she had the same feeling towards me, even though she kept them hidden very well.
I scowled at her. I never liked being pulled away from training, I always took it very seriously.
"What?" I hissed. I wasn't angry at her, just concerned because I know that she doesn't like to pull me away from my training unless it's very important.
She quickly hugged me and ran a hand through my (h/l) (h/c) locks. "You know that I've always loved your (e/c) eyes, right?" She said with a smile. I shook my head, knowing that that's not she really wanted to talk about.
I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes. "Annie..." I sighed. She started to cry. She had her face in her hands.
"I-I should have told you earlier. Let's go somewhere else." She took my arm and dragged me into the woods to our favorite spot.
She sat me down next to the lake. It was completely silent except for the birds chirping and the running water.
"(F/n)," She grasped my cheek in her hand. I looked at her, eyes wide and worried. I wanted to know what was wrong with her, why she was crying. Annie never cries, let alone ever showing any kind of emotion. "I'm the Female Titan... I should have told you earlier, but please do me this one favor for me, okay? On this next expedition, I need you to stay here. I don't want you out there. I could be a danger to you, (F/n). Please. I understand if you hate me forever but just do that for me. I'm only asking because I truly love you." I stared in awe as she spilled everything to me. All I could do was shake my head in denial, but then I realized that she was telling the truth.
"Annie, no. That can't be." Hot tears started to stream down my face. I felt her hand wipe them away. I couldn't back away from her touch. I loved her too much.
"Y-you should have told me earlier." I managed to say through my tears. Annie looked me in my eyes with her icy blue ones.
"Are you mad at me?" She questioned quietly and shyly. I shook my head.
"Just slightly disappointed, that's all. But I still love you, Annie." I took her face in my hands and kissed her soft lips. I pulled away from the kiss.
"So will you keep that promise for me then?" I nodded with a smile on my lips.
Annie took my hand in hers and started at it. She then brought it up to her lips and kissed it gently. She let out a sigh and looked back into my eyes. She tucked a loose strand of my (h/c) hair behind my ear and swiped my bangs away from my face. I saw fresh tears, silent tears, fall from her smoothed skin face.
"(F/n), please don't wait for me if I don't come back. I-if I die, I mean... If we accomplish our goal, I will try to come back for you if you want to come with us, but otherwise, you need to move on from me." I wiped the tears from her face and gave her a confused look. I don't want to accept what she said.
"N-no. What do you mean by us?" I asked shakily. She shook her head.
"I'm sorry. I can't tell you, but you know them." We both sighed at the same time. I nodded accepting that she needed to keep some things secret.
"Why do you still love me? I'm a horrible person. I've killed so many people. I'm a horrible person. I'm horrible, (F/n). Horrible. So just why?" I looked at her as if she was crazy. I squeezed her hand in a reassuring way, and I gave her a sincere smile.
"Annie," I sighed. "You are not a horrible person. That's not you, and deep down, you know it damn well. You cut yourself off from everyone so you don't feel the pain that you inflict."
"But then you came into my life and fucked it all up." She said with a smile. "I'm glad that I met you, but I don't want to lose you, okay? Just promise me that you'll keep that promise that you said you would keep." I nodded at her to reassure her that I would do what she wants me to.
"You know, I thought that this would have gone the opposite way." She admitted with a smile.
"The only way that would have happened that way would be if I didn't love you and wouldn't be open to the idea of something like that... I love you to pieces, Annie." I whisper kissing her cheek lovingly.
"I love you too, (F/n). Past Wall Maria and back."
