Y/n's POV
A few days later
It took some time getting used to living in Berk, but thanks to everyone being welcoming and kind, you felt welcomed and appreciated.
Staring at yourself in the mirror in pure shock, you couldn't believe what you were seeing. Fear paralysed your body as you stared at your true self. You had the same type of marks on your cheeks just longer as your hair faded from H/C to a turquoise green. Your eyes faded from E/C to mint green then a slight yellow around the irises.
The marks on your face and wrists were glowing a bright, light green. You had no memory of your past; meaning you had no idea about your strange power and how to control it.
You felt your heart rate increase rapidly, adrenaline pumping through your veins. You were scared.
No, you were terrified. You had no idea why or how you were like this. Tripping over a shoe, you fell onto the floor, your eyes not leaving the now broken mirror on the floor. Looking at the marks on your cheeks, they were still glowing.
Hearing a loud smash in your room, Hiccup and Astrid quickly ran into your hut, confused and worried at what happened. You flinched as the door was barged open to see you silently crying on the floor.
You sobbed,
" What's happening to me?"They exchanged shocked glances towards each other.
Astrid tried to comfort you as Hiccup cleaned up all the shattered glass. The glowing soon faded, but the marks were still visible, including the dark green/turquoise parts of your hair.Astrid asked,
" Do you not remember anything before you hit your head?"You just shook your head, wiping your tears with your sleeves. Astrid sighed heavily before helping you stand up,
" I've got to give Stormfly a ride, I'm sure Hiccup can help you since he's an expert at figuring things out,"Astrid ruffled your hair, kissed Hiccup's cheek before leaving the hut. Hiccup walked over, placing his hands on your shoulders in a comforting manner, his gaze never leaving yours,
" I promise we'll sort something out, alright? "Nodding, you thanked him. He signalled you to follow him, a hint of curiosity was seen in his eyes. Maybe because he loves discovering mysteries and wants to know the source and reason behind your power.
Hiccup led you into his small library where his study room is located. He asked, rooting through his books,
" What did you feel like when them symbols glowed? Other than fear?"Thinking for a few moments, you soon responded,
" I felt power like I've never felt before,"He hummed in response before walking over and gently grabbing your wrist, analysing the strange ruins. He then turned his attention to your cheeks,
" Would you mind if I drew these? "You just shook your head, watching him grab a sketchbook and pencil. The room was silent as you stared at the ground, feeling awkward at how much he was inspecting your face whilst drawing the markings on your cheeks. You were the only one who could feel the tension in the room. Whereas Hiccup didn't even think of it, he was to busy concentrating on getting each mark accurate.
After he was finished, he inspected his drawings closely, the same curious glance in his eyes gotten brighter,
" This is amazing, I've never seen anything like it!"A deep pit formed in your stomach at the thought of being dangerous to Berk. What if you lost control? Are you capable of hurting anybody? If so, would Hiccup have to kick you out in order to protect his people? You flinched slightly at his sudden burst of excitement.
He got up and gently grabbed your wrist before dragging you outside like a child trying to show his Mother something. You just simply followed to see Toothless was playing with a few dragons. Somehow, he stopped playing when he could sense a strange power. It was you.
Hiccup hummed in thought, watching his dragon slowly walk towards you. Toothless placed his snout on your hip, nudging you to stroke him, in which you did. As soon as you touched him, the ruins on your body glowed bright green once again.
He inspected them closely,
" They must be related to dragons somehow, they react whenever he touches you,"You thought for a moment before asking, thinking of a theory,
" Maybe I ran away because I was different?"He just hummed in response, shrugging his shoulders, sending you a reassuring smile,
" Whatever it is, it isn't a bad different. In fact, it's cool to me! So don't be to afraid alright? We'll get through this,"His words gave you hope that you would overcome whatever was happening to you. When you tried to remember your past, you knew it was bad because of the ominous and sickly feeling that arose in your stomach. Yet when you were in Berk, you felt more safe and comfortable.
" Let's go outside and test what you can do,"
He seemed quite excited about this so you accepted and went outside. In case your powers were dangerous, you both decided to go near the end of the cliffs to practice, far away from the village.
After multiple attempts of trying to activate your power, nothing worked. Hiccup paused for a moment in thought, trying to gather the pieces of the function of your power.
He broke the silence,
" Maybe you have to be in danger for it to work? "Without saying something, he ordered Toothless to fire a blast at you, in which he simply obliged. Your eyes widened when you saw it coming towards you.
The same feeling of power coursed through your veins, the ruins on your skin glowed in response, including your eyes.A few yet large, thick plant roots emerged from the ground at the speed of lightning and blocked the attack, some of them getting destroyed in the process.
You were left with Hiccup writing things down with an excited grin.
