Let's just say for the last few games Shubman wasn't in form. In the last five matches his highest score was 17 and with how critical and fickle the media is it's no surprise that it had already forgotten his centuries, record breaking scores and his contributions to unimaginable wins.

Trolls are not a new thing for cricketers at all but that did not mean that it did not affect seeing them being called a bad player, not fit for Indian team and other such nonsense things that are spammed on social media.

Ishan knew Shubman had gone through this phase several times, he had seen him go through these difficult times with a smile and unmatched determination not once losing his confidence, it was one of the many things Ishan admired about the guy.

But somewhere he could feel that this time those voiceless idiots with overworked thumbs and no brains had somehow managed to make Shubman question his abilities. It was breaking him but he did not know how to approach the subject as Shubman was religiously ignoring it.

"Ishan focus dyann kaha hh tumhara" ("Ishan focus where is your mind at")
Ishan was practicing his wicket keeping and he was definitely performing his poorest ever because all of his attention was captured by Shubman in the nets batting to Siraj.

"Out hai !!" ("It's out !!") Ishan turned quickly to see Siraj celebrating and was almost hit in the head by a speeding bouncer. Ignoring his coach's complains he completely turned around towards the nets to watch what was happening.

He heard Rohit ask Shubman to continue playing and then watched as Shubman walked out the net towards Rohit to say something which he could not hear and then suddenly Shubman was walking back to the building.

"Out hai !!" ("Its out !!") Shubman froze, he looked at the fallen stump behind him. Suddenly his chest was constricting and a lump formed in his throat.

"Chal Shub yek aur over khel" Rohit ordered from outside the nets. He walked towards him in quick steps already taking off his gloves and helmet. "Bhai 2 min dijiye na mai abhi aata hu" ("bhai give me 2 mins i will be right back").

"Ishan chal yaar focus kr" ("Ishan common man focus")
"Bhaiya 5 min ka break le" ("Bhaiya should we take a 5 min break")
"Pr abhi toh start kiya tha" ("but we just started")
Ishan was already walking away from his spot towards the building. Before the coach could protest Virat kept a hand on his shoulder stopping him "jane dijiye isko bhaiya...K.L aa thori der tu kr le practice" ("let him go bhaiya...K.L come you practice for a bit")

When Ishan entered the changing room he saw Shubman siting with his back to the entrance, gloves and helmet thrown at the side, his head in his hands.

Ishan approached him, hands ready to smack his head hoping a little banter will take his mind off things. But as he came close he heard little sniffles coming from Shubman which broke his heart.

"Shub" Ishan called, Shubman turned around to glance at Ishan before quickly facing away trying to dry his tears discreetly.

Ishan just walked in front of Shubman, pulled his head to his chest and started caressing it.

It was like the dam broke Shubman's soft sniffles quickly turned to loud sobs his fists held on tightly to Ishan's dampening shirt. Ishan just held him close reassuring him, his own eyes filled with tears.

"Koi baat nhi..koi baat nhi..you're okay just let it out" ("It's okay..it's okay..you're okay just let it out")

When Shubman calmed down a little Ishan went on his knees in front of him and tightly squeezed his hands trying to get him to make eye contact.

"baat kr mujhse..kya hua Shub ?" ("Talk to me..what happened Shub ?")

Shubman just sat there not saying a word. Ishan noticed a phone kept on the side and glanced at it.

'Shubman bas IPL ke liye hi thik hh Indian team mei nhi hona chahiye usko' ('Shubman is only good for the IPL he shouldn't be in the Indian team')

'Isko next Kholi botle hh log runs to bante nhi isse..king Kholi ke samne kuch nhi hh ye'('They call him the next Kholi can't even make runs..he is nothing in front of king Kholi')

'Koi nikalo bhai isko team se kr kya rha hh ye" ('Someone get him out of the team what is he even doing')

'If he is a Prince then he is a FALLEN Prince'

To say Ishan was angry would be an understatement but he kept his feelings under control as anger was the last thing Shubman needed right now.

"Shub kya hua bata...kuch toh bol" ("Shub what happened tell me...say something")

"Ishan sach bata kya mai Indian team mei rehna deserve krta hu ?" ("Ishan tell me the truth do i deserve to be in the Indian team ?") Shubman asked in a shaky voice

"Shub tu pagal hh...ye question tere dimag mei aaya bhi kaise...Teri jagha, tera blue jersey tere alawa puri duniya mei koi deserve nhi krta hai..Tu bhot zyada zaruri hai iss team ke liye please inn kuch binnam binchehre logo ke liye tu aapna confidence maat kho" ("Shub are you crazy...how did that question even come to your mind...No one in this world deserves your place your blue jersey more than you..You are very important to this team please don't lose your confidence because of these few nameless faceless people")

"Pr Ishan sirf 28 runs total last 5 matches mei...wo-" ("But Ishan only 28 runs total in last 5 matches...that-")

"Aur 208 runs sirf 149 balls mei wo yaad nhi hh tujhe....Cricket yek game hai, kabhi jitenge kabhi harenge, kabhi runs banenge kabhi nhi...sirf kuch matches tere abilities tera worth judge nhi kr skte sirf teri mehnat hi tera worth bata skti hai aur tujhse zayada hardworking banda maine aaj tak nhi dekha" ("And 208 runs in only 149 balls you don't remember that....Cricket is a game, sometimes we will win sometimes we will lose, sometimes we will make runs sometimes we won't...just a few matches can't judge your abilities your worth only your hardwork can define your worth And I have never seen a person more hardworking than you")

"Thank you...I really needed that"
Ishan just hugged him tightly in response

And in the next match when Shubman scored a century no one needed to know why he pointed his bat to the pavilion in celebration or why Ishan had the biggest smile on his face as Shubman received The Man of the Match or why the two of them went out for dinner alone to celebrate separately.
