Ava pov

(She just arrived home😊)

I unlocked the front door rather eagerly. The whole day had been exhausting and all I needed was a bed and few chick flicks. I surveyed the hallway,"Mum, I am home!" I hollowed as I dropped my bag at the door. She must be at work I thought. The quietness had eased the tensions that had remained in me from school.

Without wanting to aggravate my headache, I made my way upstairs. The stairs slightly creaked as my weight pressed on the wooden timber. As I made my way to my room, coldness brushed on face making a shiver go down my spine. I looked around to see where the sudden rush came from. My eyes scanned the area to see the window slightly opened in my room. I gave an exasperated sigh of annoyance. Why do I always forgot to shut my window? I am sure I will remember to shut it the moment a kidnapper comes in. They probably would be able to wait a moment while I shut it, right?

I shut the window, looking out. As I stared out the window, something caught my eye. Nicholas. He was walking alone, he looked as if he was in deep thought. His hands were shoved in his pockets as he looked down, kicking the rocks on the footpath. Time to time I saw him running his hands through his silky looking hair. I looked away once I noticed I seemed stalkerish. My tummy rumbled, indicating that I am too hungry to function anyway.

Realising I couldn't leave the window without taking one last glimpse, I took a quick peek through the window. To my utter surprise, a pair of crystal blue eyes bored into mine. He was looking back at me. Nicholas didn't seem embarrassed nor bothered by the fact I had caught him because he kept on staring. I couldn't help but stare back. His face gave no emotion, it looked blank. After a few seconds he gave a small smile and walked away.

Without a proper comprehension of what had just happened, I stared at his handsome, muscular back. I knew I looked stupid at that moment with my bottom jaw on the ground and all, but I couldn't help it. It was just us, in that moment, pretty much staring into each other. Then he smiled and walked away ..... confusing...but I am sure I can deal with it. I finally looked away as he turned the corner. I sighed as I closed my curtains shut. I know, I am soooo melodramatic.
***********
The sounds of mum's cooking woke me up. I sunk in my bed a little further covering my polka dot quilt over my face to block the sounds. The darkness of the quilt overwhelmed me as I slowly drifted into deep sleep.

I opened my eyes reluctantly, a few seconds later, as my alarms started buzzing. I turned it off,  bringing my self up in the process. I took my time to get out of the warm, cozy bed covered with the comfiness of my pillows and quilt. Comfiness isn't a word, I know but it is just the best word to describe it. I rubbed my eyes trying to get rid of the tiredness.

"Mum! I am awake" I yelled, which sounded more like an old man screeching. I dragged myself towards the kitchen. I tied my hair back, my arms started to ache with the small task. I saw my mum walking away from the television towards the dining table. She smiled at the sight of me. " Sleep well?" She asked. I mumbled a "yes" as I pulled up a chair. She laughed at my sleepy response as she brought me my breakfast. Sooooooooo sleepy.

I looked down at the delicious looking pancakes. "What is this for?" I asked as the pancakes slightly bring me out of my sleepy faze.

"Well, I don't really have a reason. I guess I just felt in the mood to make pancakes" she said as she shrugged. I dug into my pancakes, the taste was heaven in my mouth.

"Thank you, it tastes soooooo good" I said as I brought a mouthful into my tiny mouth. I knew I looked ridiculous. The image of me stuffing my mouth with pancakes nearly wanted me to stop eating out of disgust but we all know that was never going to happen.

She gave me a smile and started walking towards the lounge room. "You better hurry if you want to make it to school on time!" she yelled, as she pointed at the clock to emphasize the point. I looked over to see it was already 7.55, school starts at 8.10... eugh.

I quickly got up and ran towards the bathroom. Running wasn't exactly my thing so this signaled that I was in a hurry. I brushed my teeth quickly. I frantically washed my face then ran towards my closet. I pulled out my navy blue uniform not worried about the mess I made.

"Honey! I am going to leave for work, you better run to school if you want to make in time darlin'" mum yelled from the other room. I changed and ran downstairs grabbing my backpack on the way. I snatched the keys off the bench and ran towards the front door. I am definitely doing a marathon here, I deserve an award! Already puffed out from running around like a lunatic in the house I stopped for a breather. This is going to be a long day.
*************
I arrived at the school grounds finally....well 15 minutes late but let's not worry about the details. I dropped my bag on the ground and placed my hands on my knees as I caught my breath.

I heard low chuckling behind me. It is a guy. I quickly composed myself. I gulped and turned around slowly. Seriously it had to be him?

Nicholas looked amusingly at me, giving a small smirk. He leaned against the lockers, arms crossed. I felt flustered standing in front of him. " Did you run merely because you were running late?" He asked with furrowed eyebrows with mock seriousness. It was obvious he knew the answer but he was just trying to embarrass me further. Wait a second...he just broke the barrier. That was the longest sentence he has said to me in our 10 years of knowing each other! I did a silent celebration and quickly composed myself again. I nodded as I didn't trust my voice seeing that I was staring at someone that looked like a Greek god. He grinned but before he could say anything else I quickly grabbed my bag and headed towards the office. I could feel his gaze on my back as I left.
