We stayed hugging for what felt like forever but maybe only a few minutes maximum. He slowly pulled away and so did I reluctantly. We were still very close to each other, like super close. However I was too distracted by his blue eyes, they were so mesmerising. Nicholas on the other hand was staring down at my lips. I felt this different, mixed feeling of thrill and anxiousness. I hadn't experienced my first kiss yet....To be honest this is the closest I've ever been to a boy. Haha...proves to you how much I stay cooped up in my room.
He put his hand on the crook of my neck and licked his lips. My mind was becoming more fazed by the second. He looked into my eyes then back at my lips, as if for permission. I looked back into his eyes trying to scream "hell ya" through my gaze, however knowing me I probably looked like an idiot. I could hear his heavy breathing so clearly even over the music and drunken chatter around us. He brought his other hand on my cheek and neared my face towards his. My eyes fluttered close expecting the soft touch of his lips instead I got something else.
"Ava?" Lauren's voice brought us out of whatever spell we were under. I opened my eyes and Nicholas gulped before taking one last look of my lips and slowly smirking at me. I could feel my cheeks burning. I bit my lip nervously and looked hesitantly at Lauren expecting the worst embarrassment. She smiled at me, as if she was a proud mother. I scrunched up my face for what was to come. "I was going to ask you why you haven't came down, but I think it's obvious now" she said in a sing along voice. I gave myself a face-palm, one I think could have lasted a millennium. Lauren smiled at Nicholas.
"Hey Lauren" Nicholas said looking seemingly unaffected. Lauren gave him a puzzled face.
"You know my name?" she asked. He laughed and nodded.
"Of course I do. We went to the same high school remember?" he said stating the obvious. She gave a look saying "well duh".
"Yeah, but I didn't actually thought you took notice of anyone but well you know..." she said giving a knowing look. I groaned and shot her look.
"I am not that arrogant" he said, except it did not come out sounding offended instead he sounded amused. Lauren put her hands up in surrender.
"You said it not me" she smiled. This is soooo bad. I slumped back and cursed under my breath. Lauren gave me a raised eyebrow with so much humour laced in it. "Am I embarrassing you in front of your boyfriend, sorry I didn't realise" she teased. I felt like throwing a major tantrum. I didn't have the guts to face Nicholas so instead I put all my attention towards Lauren. With my index finger I indicated for her to come closer. I must have looked threatening. Lauren gave a puzzled look and shook her head. "You look scary right now. I don't think I want to come any closer. All I'm going to say is that you had me worried, so you deserve it" she said with her hands on her hips. I gave her one piecing look and gave up.
"Fine" I hissed. Lauren came up to me and hugged me, I intentionally didn't return it although it was blatantly obvious she didn't care.
"Sorry for interrupting couldn't help it. But by the look on his face it won't be the last time you'll be in close proximity with him" she whispered so low it was difficult for me to even hear. I must have looked so red. I fanned my face when she let go and she was hurling herself with laughter.
"What did you tell her? she's so embarrassed" Nicholas said laughing. Lauren opened her mouth and I quickly covered it.
"Nothing worth repeating" I said immediately. He raised his eyebrows and poked my cheek multiple times before I swatted his hand out of annoyance.
"Ok, but of the look on your face and Lauren's reaction it wasn't nothing" he said smiling slightly. He looked at Lauren, not sure what that look was but she shrugged.
