"Hey honey- BOO BOO! Lauwen is in da house! " Lauren slurred. Great she was drunk, and she was one of the worst drunks I knew. I let out an exasperated long sigh.
"Lauren, be careful okay? I am going to hang-" I was saying haltingly until I was cut off by the dial tone. She hung up on me before I got the chance to. Oh well. I my shoved the phone back into my clutch and turned on my heel.
Once I was a good few feet out of the Smith territory, I sat on a nearby bench. What should I do? I could walk home, but that would be too dangerous...especially after what happened tonight. I guess I could phone a friend, but they were probably all drunk. That left Mum, she's was out of work so she could pick me up. I guess I should call her because she was the only reasonable option I had. I got my phone out and unlocked it. I dialed Mum's number and waited a few rings before she picked up.
"Hey honey! How's the party?" Mum's voice projected through the speaker. There was no way I was telling her what had happened tonight.
"It's great Mum. But I was just wondering if you could possibly pick me up? I'm getting really tired and the party's starting to go down. I don't want the other girls to have to leave the party because of me though" I spoke. I felt so guilty for lying to Mum, but it was better than her knowing what had actually happened to me. So really, it is just a tiny white lie.
"Oh that's fine honey, I just have to do something real quick first. It will only take a few minutes. I'll park a few houses down and call you when I get there. Okay?"
"Sure Mum, love you." I agreed.
"Love you too." Mum hanged up and I quickly messaged Mia notifying her I will be leaving with mum. I fiddled with the hem of my dress out of boredom. My gaze went up to the sky, it looked beautiful. The stars were twinkling, while the moon was brightly lit in the night sky. I massaged my temple and felt the dry blood. Oh no! I need to make up a story. I needed something to tell mum, to cover up the real story behind the blood. I fell because of my heels? I mean it was believable enough since I never wear heels.
I suddenly heard heels clicking from afar. How ironic.
"If it isn't Ava, my little b*tch" Natalie's voice echoed through the empty streets. I heard her stop walking. I already knew she was wearing a confident smirk.
"If it isn't Natalie, my little sl*t" I fired back. It felt weird saying these words. I didn't dare look at her. I didn't want to be shot down through her devilish eyes. Her heels started to click against the cold pavement, increasing in sound.
"Excuse me?" she said through clenched teeth. My head was pounding, and it wasn't helping that Natalie's pestering, high- pitched voice was squeaking in the background.
"You heard me. Unless you're more mentally retarded than I thought and can't process human words...which now that I think about it, is highly likely. " I smirked, I got up from my seat and headed down in the opposite direction.
"Watch your back, Williams" Natalie yelled viciously.
I couldn't deal with her. I already felt embarrassed at how irrational I acted earlier. To be honest...I have no right to be annoyed at Nicholas after what happened. I mean what could he of done to prevent it? Man handle her? The thought made me strangely gleeful....
Thinking about the whole day alone made me feel queasy. Is Natalie even still there? I turned around cautiously. There was nothing but a few cars and drunk teens a few meters away. If she came all this way earlier, she obviously stopped whatever she was doing to Nicholas a while back. Should I apologise to Nicholas. Well...truth be told it is highly unlikely I will see him again. So there really wouldn't be any point in embarrassing myself further.
