Chuuya woke up feeling dazed, surprised to have slept well for the first time in years. Recognizing the importance of the day, he got up promptly to get ready. Ms. Ozaki struck him as someone who wouldn't appreciate tardiness.
He dressed in one of his best suits, meticulously tying his hair with care. Today felt different, and he couldn't help but wonder if it was a sign of positive change.
However, as he got ready, he remembered the discussion about the group name from the day before, and the fleeting good mood dissipated. "Ah... I totally forgot about that!" he exclaimed, realizing that the task of naming the group still loomed over him.
Panic set in as Chuuya considered the repercussions of facing Kouyou without a group name. Determined to find a solution, he decided to call Akutagawa, hoping that Gin might have an idea or suggestion to salvage the situation.
A few moments later, Akutagawa picked up. "Chuuya-san?" he inquired on the other end of the line.
Akutagawa, sounding groggy from just waking up, answered the call. Chuuya, sensing his fatigue, began to feel a sense of urgency. "Aku, are you prepared for the meeting with Ms. Ozaki? We were supposed to see her today, and Gin is also expected."
The line went silent as Akutagawa took a moment to respond. Tension hung in the air as Chuuya awaited his reply.
Chuuya took a deep breath, his frustration evident. "Akutagawa! We're supposed to meet her in 20 minutes!
We don't even have a name for our group!" His urgency echoed through the phone, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
Akutagawa quickly acknowledged the urgency with a brief "okay" before hanging up, leaving Chuuya to rethink all his life choices.
"What a pain... I swear, if that shitty mackerel starts his ridiculousness," Chuuya muttered to himself. Resigned to the truth, he decided to come clean with Kouyou and admit that he had no name for the group.
Chuuya couldn't help but sarcastically ponder, "How fun will that be?" anticipating the undoubtedly challenging conversation he was about to have with Kouyou.
Chuuya let out a heavy sigh. "I swear on my life, I am never going to rely on him again. He is so frustrating to deal with. And I thought that mackerel was the most irritating thing in the world," he grumbled.
As the time approached to meet Ms. Ozaki, Chuuya felt more nervous than a cat that had swallowed a feather. She was one of the most important figures in the company, and the numerous times he had contemplated fleeing from her were countless. The gravity of the meeting weighed heavily on him as he prepared to face the formidable woman.
He gulped, repeating a silent mantra to himself: "Please be calm and collected. Please be calm and collected." Chuuya tried to steady his nerves as he approached the impending meeting with Ms. Ozaki.
He saw Dazai in the hallways, humming to himself and engrossed in playing video games on his smartphone. Chuuya couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Figures," he muttered under his breath, already frustrated by the sight of his seemingly carefree and unbothered colleague.
Wow. So responsible.
Chuuya stops in his tracks for a minute and looks at Dazai playing video games on his phone.
"..."
Deciding to leave Dazai be, knowing there was no time to spare on someone like him, Chuuya continued walking. He noticed that the Akutagawas weren't there yet, contemplating whether he should enter without them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dazai observed Chuuya's stride as he walked by, caught in a moment of contemplation. The decision lingered in the air – should he indulge in teasing or extend the rare courtesy of leaving him be?
For now, a flicker of generosity guided his choice.
Deciding to seek out some amusement, Dazai opted to explore for a diversion, especially since training wasn't scheduled to commence until noon.
Strolling alongside the building, Dazai engaged in a mix of playful banter and laughter, directing good-natured teasing at some trainees and sharing genuine laughs with others.
He didn't mean it though, he was just in a mood.
As he continued his stroll, Dazai noticed an unusual sight—a library within the offices, a special exception made by Mori for him. Intrigued, he decided to pass the time there, perhaps even causing a few harmless messes to add a touch of mischief and irritate Mori.
Perfect Idea.
Upon entering the library, Dazai's eyes fell upon a man in his twenties with maroon hair, silently engrossed in a book. Recognition sparked in Dazai's eyes as he realized he knew the person before him.
Sakunosuke Oda
Dazai recalled that the man worked under Mori as well. Despite not attaining the same level of fame, he earned respect for his principled stance, refusing to engage in illegal transactions.
Additionally, his dedication to the children he had adopted showcased a different side, one that set him apart from the more notorious members of their organization.
Despite Mori's reservations due to potential scandals, Oda's undeniable talent prompted Mori to incorporate him into the lower ranks of the organization. The compromise allowed Mori to harness Oda's skills without exposing the Company to unnecessary risks.
He was an interesting man. Dazai wouldn't deny that.
I mean, who would willingly take care of some random brats.
Deep in thought, Dazai was abruptly interrupted by a voice. "Hello there," said Oda, causing Dazai to jolt. He turned to find Oda addressing him, and Dazai glanced at him with a mix of surprise and curiosity.
"Hello there. Don't suppose you're familiar with me, hmm?" Dazai inquired, a sly smirk playing on his lips."
Oda set down his book, meeting Dazai's gaze. "Osamu Dazai, also known as the Demon Prodigy of the PM industry, am I right?" he asked, displaying his own knowledge with a calm demeanor.
Dazai gave him a sly smile. "The one and only~." He decided to take a seat next to him, and Oda simply accepted it. "So, Oda... What are you doing at a time like this?" Dazai inquired with casual curiosity.
Odasaku glanced at him. "Passing time, and you? I heard you were in charge of some trainees. That's impressive considering your age," Oda said bluntly, acknowledging Dazai's responsibilities.
Dazai just smiled and continued the conversation with Oda. Surprisingly easy to talk to, Oda provided a comfort that Mori's presence often lacked. They engaged in conversation for some time until Dazai realized it was time for training.
"Ah, I've got to go; it was fun talking to you, Oda," Dazai said grinning . Oda returned the smile. "You can call me Odasaku. It was fun to talk too.
"Also, maybe we can meet again tomorrow," he suggested, leaving the door open for future conversations.
Dazai's grin widened. "I'd enjoy that very much."
As they bid their goodbyes, Dazai's grin persisted. He had made a friend, someone older yet remarkably considerate.
He felt a sense of happiness, considering that most people were well-aware of his reputation and tended to be apprehensive around him—except, of course, Chuuya.
He looked forward to meeting Oda again and perhaps encountering someone new. But for now, his mission was clear—to entertain himself by annoying Chuuya. Dazai chuckled softly at the prospect as he made his way to the upcoming training session.
Just for now, he mused, relishing the idea of mischief and perhaps reconsidering later.
