Joseph's consciousness drifted through the sea of memories, like an echo of a fractured past woven with threads of the joy and horror he has experienced throughout his life. These glimpses of those events run in front of him as if it were his last moments.

Joseph slowly opened his eyes. He lay on some coarse surface, attempting to get up. He felt a throbbing headache pulsing through his head. He tried to touch his head, only to realize that 2 out of 4 of his limbs were gone, excluding his left leg and right hand. He scans his surroundings, trying to understand where he is and what happened. The last thing he remembered was He saw a huge tree and branches surrounding him. He could also swear he heard weak sounds of growling. The sun's rays blinded him as he turned his head, and an unfamiliar sensation gnawed at his mind, whether a byproduct of his headache or an insatiable hunger. Then, a familiar voice cut through his haze.

Ymir: Heyo Joz, thought I'd die here from boredom.

Joseph's eyes shifted to the source of the feminine voice, finding Ymir in a similarly compromised state, without any arms like him. As the haze in his eyes lifted and he looked down, the panic settled in him as he realized the dire situation they were in - they were perched on a tree branch above a sea of Titans trying to climb on the tree. His missing limbs were slowly regenerating, and beside him, Eren who lay unconscious, had no arms

Reiner: Joseph. You're awake. Finally.

Joseph squinted his eyes and looked in front of him. There, a blonde Scout of all his height was standing on the branch with a stoic and slightly evil look. Hundreds of thoughts rushed in Joseph's head seeing his former comrade looking at him with anger. Was everything a lie? All the friendships that he and Bertholdt built with him and others, was it just a play? A plot just to kidnap him, Eren and Ymir for some unknown reason. desire to cut him with his Kagunes that he couldn't activate due to his weakness, his forehead with his only remaining hand and then gave Reiner a death glare. Reiner had his arms folded looking at him with an angry face. Bertholdt was his usual timid self by looking down and away from Joseph. The white-haired half-ghoul then spoke in a sarcastic and angry voice.

Joseph: Reiner...Bertholdt...good to see you all well.

At this comment, Reiner only snickered in response, turning his back to Joseph.

That made Ymir chuckle despite her currently bad position. Joseph glanced at his only awake friend left, except sleeping Eren.

Joseph: How are you holding up?

Ymir: Pretty good you know.

Joseph: Well, at least that's something.

Ymir: Yes, Joz. My hands are gone, we are surrounded by Titans, dumb and dumber over there have been talking about killing you for the past few minutes, god knows how far away we are from the wall, and none of us can transform. But no worries, Joseph, I am just perfect.

Joseph rolled his eyes and sighed with slight annoyance as Ymir's sarcasm or teasing wasn't exactly what he needed right now. It didn't help that his hunger was making itself known to Joseph again, further agitating him.

Joseph: So Reiner, you are the Armored Titan, and Bertholdt is the Colossal one? I remember that sensation when I first met you. Thought it was just nerves from the first day there. I should have known better.

Reiner: That's ironic, Joseph. I always thought something was off about you ever since you sniffed me in the Cadet Corps.

Joseph: Well it looks like you never got around to doing anything about it, now did you?
