In the midst of distant fading flare trails, Reiner and Bertholdt swiftly maneuvered using their ODM gear, gracefully landing on the branch where Joseph and Ymir were sitting. Eren tried to ambush Reiner in his not completely healed state and jumped on him when he was closeHe lunged toward Reiner, only to find himself ensnared by the blonde Warrior, who swiftly choked him into unconsciousness, after which Bertholdt picked up his former friend. Ymir's limbs have almost healed up while Joseph's were in the middle of it.

Bertholdt: How will we carry them, Reiner? There are three of them and only two of us.

Reiner pondered for a moment, his eyes shifting between Joseph and then Ymir, seemingly thinking of a possible solution. He knew the approaching Scouts left them with little time for any deliberation, and as it was ticking, Ymir proposed an unexpected solution to them.

Ymir: I could carry Joseph.

All three moved their surprised gaze towards the freckles-covered recruit who had an uncommonly serious expression. As a second passed, Joseph couldn't help but let out a disbelieving chuckle.

Joseph: Ha, nice joke, Ymir.

Ymir's response, however, caught Joseph off guard as she turned her still stoic face to him.

Ymir: Who said I was kidding, Joseph?

Joseph's smile dropped instantaneously. Ymir's tone was void of any notes of sarcasm or even slight annoyance, it was rather cold and somber one.

Reiner: Are you serious about that? Now is not the time to play games with us.

Ymir: Yes I am. There isn't any life here for me inside the Walls anyway, the only thing I care now is Christa's safety. As long as you can guarantee it, I'll help.

Suddenly, more flares appeared, as if punctuating Ymir's declaration. Reiner realized his time and options were running thin.

Reiner: Alright, I'll let you free.

After accepting her help, Reiner extended his hand to assist Ymir in standing. She accepted his help almost without hesitation.

Reiner: But if you're lying-

Ymir: Save your threats for later. There's no point in lying for me.

Hearing last words, Joseph let out a sigh of frustration. As if his situation wasn't dire already, the betrayal of Ymir, dear and closest friend of Historia, girl who always spent free time with her, the only person who maintained their composure and still remained his friend, was the last nail in the coffin and it stung the most.

After Ymir stood up on both her legs, Reiner slowly walked towards the white-haired scout.

Reiner: Alright, Joseph. Are you going to cooperate?

Joseph wanted to say everything he thought of Reiner again but he knew it would have little to no effect on his current state. With one arm, one leg and and weakened Kagune, he knew he could only put up minimal resistance. So, the only option left was to accept it despite frustration.

Joseph: Just do it already.

Reiner: Good. Let's move you then.

As Reiner picked Joseph from behind, a yellow lightning blinded him for a few seconds as Ymir transformed into the Titan. Reiner carefully positioned Joseph on its back, putting his hand on Titan's hair so he could grab it.

Reiner: It's in your own interests to not fall, otherwise we won't be able to catch you.

Joseph rolled his eyes and grabbed the piece of Ymir's Titan hair with all his strength as it was the only thing preventing him from the free fall into the Titans' mouths.
