Titans In The Woods

Two weeks had passed since the rescue of Eren and Joseph. During this time, Joseph slowly got used to his new squad while other recruits made up a new Levi's Squad and were moved into the cabin in the woods. Meanwhile, Annie was still strictly supervised by Scouts as she still had little sympathy after her actions during 57th Expedition.

Currently all of the former members of the 104th Cadet Corps were currently setting up and decorating the place. All of them 104th, except 3 Titan shifters.

Out in the woods, a slight distance away from the Levi's Squad cabin, three titans clashed with one another. However, it was not a serious battle, rather a culmination of yet another experiment meticulously overseen by Hange and Levi. Throughout the day, Section Commander was like a kid that entered a candy shop for the first time, not being able to contain her unbridled enthusiasm, salivating at her mouth from witnessing the battle. While she had always been keen on experimenting with Titan forms of both Eren and Joseph, her fervor had been taken to new heights after Commander Erwin allowed Annie to be taken out of custody and be used for Titan experiments.

After a full day of experiments which involved testing limits of the three shapeshifters and Joseph's ghoul abilities she decided to end it on a spar. Eren needed to train more in his Titan combat, since he was less experienced than the other two. Plus, the sight of Titans' battling in a free for all was quite the tantalizing sight for the Titan-Ghoul obsessed scientist.

Eren fell to the ground, unable to match the experience and prowess of his comrades Joseph and Annie to engage in a fierce showdown. Annie's skill was undeniable, but Joseph's mastery of his abilities gave him the upper hand. Eventually Joseph managed to pin Annie on the stomach and the female signaled her concession. As the sun began its descent, the three exhausted shifters found a moment of respite.

Joseph, Annie, and Eren all were trying to catch their breath while they slumped over with their hands on their knees. Hange spoke in front of them with Levi and Petra behind them.

Hange: Great job, all of you! That was awesome!! I can only imagine the stuff we are gonna do! The stuff you guys can already do is WILD!!!

Levi: Four eyes, give them a damn break. You've shattered their bodies already a few times. Let their minds live.

Hange looked at the three utterly exhausted and wiped out Scouts in front of her.

Hange: Oh, yeah sorry, guess I got a little excited.

Joseph: It's ok Section Commander *breathe* We know it's *breathe* for the sake of humanity.

Eren: Yeah *breathe* we can do it.

Annie: I'm just *breathe* happy you allowed me to get free at all.

With the spar concluded, they mounted their horses and headed back to the cabin. During the ride, Annie pulled up alongside Joseph.

Annie: Hey, Joseph. I...I never really got to thank you for persuading Commander to set me free, and include me in your squad. So...thanks.

Joseph was slightly taken back by Annie's comment. She was never one for expressing gratitude or ever really any strong emotions, and he understood that this thank-you was a significant gesture.

Joseph: No problem, Annie. But don't thank me yet, you might regret this new freedom when Hange kicks the experiments up.

Annie had smiled at that, a rare sight to witness. Hange soon separated from the group to speak with Erwin, and Petra accompanied her, giving a deathly warning look to Annie before leaving. Joseph sighed deeply at the sight. He fully understood the pain and anger that she felt after Annie killed squadmates. And such a cold relationship between Annie and not only Petra but most of the Scouts didn't require explanation. Yet, that didn't help anyone and couldn't allow them to work and trust each other fully. However, there was nothing he could do about it, and seconds later he joined his new squadmate and Eren rode slowly to the cabin. As they got closer, the scent of dinner cooking wafted through the air, teasing their senses.
