Being Her Doctor

CHAPTER VI

"You didn't eat?" He asked the moment he saw the food on the side table.

I rolled my eyes. "The food is tasteless. I don't like it."

Tumango-tango ito bago maglakad papunta sa mini kitchen ko.

Aba't milagro at hindi siya nagpumilit na kainin ko ang pagkain sa hospital.

"I'll cook for your food then." He simply said while removing his lab gown. He neatly place it in the small cabinet where my clothes are and get back to the mini kitchen to prepare the foods he will be cooking.

"What did you eat, Ridge?" Naguguluhan kong tanong. He seems kind to me right now. Why?

"Uhm, salad? Why?" Inosente nitong sagot.

"I mean why are you doing this? Why are you acting so kind and it's kind of strange. Did you eat some spoil food?"

He laugh before answering. "No, Ely. The doctor is responsible for treating his patients sickness. As part of it, they are assign or obliged to do extra care and service to attain what the patient's need. And of course as your doctor, it's my job to treat you right. Kasi naman isa lang ang nurse mo but it seems that you're not comfortable with her that's why sinabihan ko siyang bisitahin ka nalang kapag kinakailangan. And also I am doing some of her job since I have the need to do it."

He resumed cooking after he explained what he was doing. Napaiwas naman ako ng tingin.

Relax, Ely. He's just fulfilling his job.

"But aren't you tired from your all day work?"

Tinapunan ako nito ng tingin saglit bago ituon ang tingin sa niluluto. "Are you somewhat concern?"

"Hey, don't get me wrong! I am just asking a possible fact. Besides, I can cook on my own."

His phone rang in a sudden that's why he have to take the call. Kinuha lang niya ito gamit ang kaliwang kamay at saka inipit pagitna sa balikat at ulo. "Hello, Mara. It's late in the evening. Why did you call?" He answered using his soft voice.

Aba't itong doctor nato! Sa iba ang bait pero sa akin palaging nang-aasar.

Girlfriend niya ba si Mara? Ay no, sabi niya wala siyang girlfriend eh.

Why am I even minding his own business? Duhh, Kelsey, it's the doctor's business not yours.

"I'm cooking but patapos na rin naman to. I can go to your condo right away."

"Wait, are you drunk?" He asked concerned to the person in other line.

"No, no don't lie to me you little hard headed. I'll just finish this then I'll go to your condo. Wait for me. Understood?"

"Good girl." He lastly said and hang up the phone.

Nagmadali ito sa pagluluto at nang matapos ito ay agad nitong isinalang ang niluto sa mangkok. Inilapag niya ito sa side table saka nagmamadaling kinuha ang lab gown niya. "I'll be back, Ely. Eat your food. Bye."

In a blink of an eye, he's gone. Ganyan ba ka importante si Mara sa kanya? Well I guess she is and I don't care anymore. He was my doctor and I am just his patient.

Napatingin nalang ako sa niluto niyang Lomi. Well I can smell that it's delicious. Pwede na siguro itong dinner. I tasted the Lomi and to my surprise, it taste very well. I scoop a handful of soup and drink it until I didn't realize that I eat the entire Lomi without even reaching 15 minutes.

I burped and laugh. God Kelsey! The Lomi ruined your dietary plan! But it was worth it so okay lang.

My phone rang and I immediately reach it. I answered the call when I saw my mom's name. "Hello Kelsey baby! How are you there, honey? Are you alright? Is the doctor treating you well?" Tanong nito sa malambing na boses.
