The plane ride went smoothly and they all arrived back in Korea within two hours. They immediately went back to the estate for a few reasons. One, they needed to make sure none of their systems crashed. Two, they needed to monitor every type of transportation that left Korea. If Wooyoung had already left Korea, then they couldn't do much but go back to their old routine, but if he hadn't departed just yet, then there was a chance that they could still catch up to him.
The fact that Wooyoung was here most likely to seek some type of revenge on Ji-yoo slipped their minds as they didn't care what he did. After all, Ji-yoo was one of the main reasons that Wooyoung left. The letters she wrote caused so much more damage than she could have anticipated. If she had never written those letters, maybe just maybe Wooyoung would have never considered running away. If she never wrote those letters, then perhaps he would have been more vocal about his feelings instead of bottling them up.
Everything was going smoothly, that was until Jongho got a phone call. This caused the others to slightly turn their heads as Jongho just took the call. After a short conversation, he hung the phone up and got up from his chair, diverting his attention to San. "Hyung, I have to leave the NPA called for me," Jongho spoke as he grabbed his jacket.
"The NPA? The National Police Agency!?" Hongjoong said, baffled at the current conversation that was taking place. The others looked shocked as their eyes widened, and their eyebrows furrowed together as they looked at the youngest male. "Jongho, did you- Did you join the police? Why- How- When did this happen?" Seonghwa stumbled on his words as he tried his hardest to comprehend the situation.
"It's been around six months? How did you guys not notice? Jongho and I had a conversation, and the deal was profitable. If Jongho managed to get the job, develop a good reputation, and snag a decent position, we would have access to so much more. How do you think we gained access to so many personal records, files, and security footage?" San questioned the others as if it were a natural conversation. Turning his attention back to the younger male, he asked, "Why exactly are they calling you? Isn't it your day off?"
"An incident happened at the Shin Manor. They called for me to investigate a crime scene," Jongho said as he adjusted the jacket onto himself. "By Shin Manor, you mean Ji-yoo's house?" Seonghwa questioned the younger male. In response, the younger just nodded his head.
"Wait, if you go there, don't you think Mrs. Areum would recognize you?" Yeosang conveyed. Jongho slightly smirked as he responded, "They said she was in hysterics. She wouldn't even respond to her spouse, and I could get passed pretty easily, besides she probably wouldn't even recognize me. She doesn't care about anyone besides herself, her husband, and her daughter. At one point, she cared about San. Though only because Ji-yoo was interested in him."
"Anyways what I'm trying to say is that she wouldn't even remember me so I should be good. Besides the last time I saw her was San's 16th birthday. Even if she did remember me, she wouldn't recognize me. And if I managed to be wrong about all of this then I could just convince her into believing she knew me from somewhere else. I didn't study psychology and psychological manipulation for no reason," He spoke before exiting the room.
Everyone was left dumbfounded at the events that just unfolded. "I don't know whether to be concerned for him or scared of him," Hongjoong stated. "It was kinda hot..." Yeosang muttered under his breath causing everyone to sigh. "Of course, you would think that's hot," Hongjoong facepalmed. Seonghwa sighed, "Let's just get back to work." San nodded in agreement before immediately getting back to work, the others following along.
Jongho soon arrived at the scene where there were a few police cars and ambulances. As soon as Jongho walked onto the premises another officer started to fill him in with the situation, "You've arrived! Sorry, we called you on one of your days off it's just this scene is a little too gruesome for everyone else and even if you get disgusted you stay calm during these types of investigations and get the job done so-" "You're rambling again just get to the point," Jongho said slightly irritated as he put a mask and gloves on.
"Right! Sorry... Anyways, as you may know, Mr and Mrs. Shin have a daughter named Ji-yoo, who was unfortunately murdered. We don't have any current suspects or, any leads on who or why someone might have done this."
"She was found dead at around 6:30 am and was last seen alive at around 1 am. So, she was killed during that empty time frame. We currently have a few alibis from staff but, we have yet to collect the ones from the parents as they are currently in distress as I mentioned over the phone. Ji-yoo was found with her bed sheets covering her dead body. Along with that, her face was almost completely mutilated. It definitely not something common... When we first tried to investigate the scene we felt very uneasy and we just couldn't do it..."
Jongho felt slightly uneasy mostly due to the fact he knew exactly who did this. When he learned that Wooyoung planned to seek revenge on Ji-yoo he thought he was only going to expose some of the awful things she had done, after all, that's what they planned to do to her. He never thought Wooyoung would go as far as killing her, but he couldn't say he was disappointed, in fact, deep down he felt a small sense of pride.
As Jongho walked down the long corridors of the Manor he stopped at a certain door with yellow tape across it. Pushing the tape aside Jongho stepped in the room while the other male waited outside. It certainly was a sight to be seen, Jongho had seen his fair share of disturbing things due to his line of work in both the Mafia and the NPA. He just didn't really expect this.
Her body was covered with the blood-soaked duvet, leaving only her face visible, though her face wasn't very recognizable. Along her neck was a dark line as well as a clean cut across it. Her eyes were gouged out, some of her skin was peeled off, and there were chunks of flesh ripped out causing some of her skull to be visible. The only parts of her face that were left were her nose, forehead, and some of her cheeks, but even then, they were covered in scratches. The lamp that was initially on the bedside table was now broken on the floor. Next to it was a broken photo frame of Ji-yoo. It seemed as if Wooyoung blacked her face out with her blood. Jongho continued observing the room, some of the curtains were ripped, and the windows next to them had dried up blood splatter on them. The mirrors on Ji-yoo's vanity were entirely broken and the edges of the broken glass were covered in blood. It was likely her face was smashed against the mirrors which caused them to break, that would also help explain the scratches on the parts of her face that weren't gouged out. Upon further inspection some strands of her hair were stuck along the vanity desk and mirror, further solidifying Jongho's initial suspicion.
Turning his attention back towards the female, he took a few slow steps toward her. As he got closer to the bed, he felt a sense of uneasiness wash over him. Although yes he had tortured someone to get information before it was never to this extent. He only really performed psychological torture and electrical torture on someone else so this was slightly foreign to him. He softly took hold of the duvet and began to slowly pull it back. He felt slightly disgusted as he turned away to process everything.
There was a clean cut along her upper stomach and then down the middle of her stomach. Then the skin was pulled back which revealed all the organs that resided in the stomach. After observing the open stomach Jongho noticed that not all the organs where there. The liver, kidneys, spleen, and small intestines were missing. He scanned the area just in case they were ripped out and possibly tossed to the side, but he didn't see them at all. He made a small mental note before continuing the investigation.
