The two out-of-breath males quickly shut and locked the door behind them. As they caught their breath, a voice spoke. "I told you not to go mess around with them," Wooyoung voiced as he looked out the large hotel room window.
"It's... all... his fault," Yunho huffed as he pointed at Mingi. "Why did you even do that in the first place? I simply don't understand what you tried to accomplish by toying around with them," Wooyoung spoke as he turned his attention to the two males. "And now here we are in this predicament. You do realize that there is a high chance they could find us, right?" Wooyoung raised an eyebrow as he spoke.
"Whatever, the damage is already done. Keep a low profile until we can get out of here. They are most definitely looking for us," Wooyoung sighed. After a few minutes, the two older males finally caught their breath. Yunho looked at Wooyoung before speaking, "You mentioned five of them but when we saw them there were only four. Do you think one of them stayed back?"
Wooyoung bit his lower lip as he thought for a second. "If anything Yeosang stayed behind to make sure their systems don't crash like last time... It would also come in handy with helping track us down since he could easily get into security cameras," the male softly spoke. "Alright then. We just have to wait it out for a few days."
"A few days?! But our flight was rescheduled. We only have around 6 hours until it takes off," Mingi spoke up slightly baffled. "That's true but now that we know they are here, security is going to be a lot tighter. We need to continue to keep a low profile for a few days until we have a different source of transportation or until they leave. Those are our only current options," Wooyoung concluded.
"But is it really bad if they catch us?" Mingi addressed causing Wooyoung to freeze. "I doubt they are going to judge you for being yourself. And it seemed your little friend San has been missing you like crazy. The one named Seonghwa mentioned how San was jealous that we got to spend so much time with you," continued Mingi.
A slight blush crept onto Wooyoung's cheeks. "It's not necessarily a bad thing... I already know they won't hurt you guys, after all, they probably have already figured out you two mean a lot to me. It's just..." Wooyoung sighed before continuing, "I have come to the terms that they are getting closer and closer to finding me. If they do then I will gladly go back. It has been eight years since I last saw them, and I miss them like crazy. But at the same time, I don't want them to see me in this type of mental state."
"I want them to see the best version of myself. The one where I'm happy and comfortable with myself. Not the insecure emotional wreck that I currently am. Either way, I have already concluded that once I can learn to accept myself and all my imperfections, then I will stop running. I just don't want to be a burden," Wooyoung spoke. His tone was laced with sadness. It was apparent he was still in a constant battle with himself and his inner thoughts.
"You're not a burden Wooyoung..." Yunho softly spoke. The younger didn't respond but just slightly shifted his gaze. "I think that day will come sooner than you think. Believe it or not, your mindset has already improved. Before you couldn't even consider the possibility of letting them find you without getting teary-eyed." Mingi said in an attempt to lighten the mood. Wooyoung chuckled slightly before responding, "Thank you both." The other two males smiled in response.
The plan to lay low worked as the others hadn't managed to find the three males. Despite them not wanting to they all knew they had to go back to Korea since they couldn't just leave Yeosang to keep everything under control. They all felt disappointment as they had failed to locate Wooyoung. They wondered just how many more times Wooyoung would escape their grasp.
Would this chase ever end? What if something bad happened before they even managed to find the younger? All they could do now was to go back to their old routine until they managed to uncover more leads. San on the other hand had different plans in store. It was clear they were limited in what they could do. After all, San's father focused on building his reputation and business within Korea. Yet San needed access to more. Wooyoung wasn't in Korea and they didn't have any connections or access to much outside of Korea. So, he needed to start making connections.
It was as if a switch flipped. He was so close to finding Wooyoung but failed, and this infuriated him. The more he thought about everything, the more he felt as if he wasn't trying hard enough. He felt like he was acting purely on his emotions and that this caused a few setbacks within the investigation. He needed to try harder. San put every ounce of effort he had into finding Wooyoung. He always wondered why he and his father seemed different when in reality they weren't. The only difference was that San had someone he romantically loved, someone who he would sacrifice everything for. His father, on the other hand, didn't. He had never once felt love for his soon-to-be ex-wife.
There had been countless times when they had a promising lead but couldn't use it. By making a security team in Japan it gave them slightly more access to information, but Wooyoung wasn't in Japan. They needed resources that weren't limited to just two countries. He wished that this sudden switch happened sooner. Maybe if it did then they would have been able to meet with Wooyoung in France.
2 years had once again passed, and now it had been officially ten years since Wooyoung had ran away. Yet things were different. Before they only had around seven promising leads but now they have over thirty. They didn't just focus on finding Wooyoung. They also started focusing on finding leads for Yunho and Mingi. Whenever they found a lead on one of them they managed to find a lead on Wooyoung.
Things were starting to look promising as this game of cat and mouse was finally starting to come to an end. Back then they were well-known throughout Korea but they weren't a big concern. Now they were some of the most feared people throughout many different countries. Known for their illegal casinos, drug trafficking, and ruthless ways of extracting information. Usually, if gangs and others had access to these types of things then they would use it to make large amounts of money, but they didn't. Instead, they used it to increase their connections as well as possibly get more information, and it worked.
They didn't expect this but around half of these people knew who Yunho, Mingi, and Wooyoung were. It was also apparent that Wooyoung wasn't hiding himself as much as before. They had seen him on security footage more than they had originally which gave them a sense of relief. Every time they saw him on security footage he looked healthier and more lively.
Although there were many positives about becoming more known there were also some setbacks. Now the police were more interested in trying to get rid of them but thankfully, with Jongho's help, they didn't have much luck. Along with this, they started gaining more enemies from rival gangs and other organizations. This prompted others to once again, start searching for Wooyoung since he was currently the mafia's greatest weakness.
This also prompted them to start making threats saying that they were going to find Wooyoung first and that once they got their hands on Wooyoung they would harm him. These letters were just empty threats. The five males knew that finding Wooyoung was going to be hard for them. Not to mention he wasn't a fragile boy who needed others to protect him, he could fight back if needed. After all, he was technically considered an assassin working under Luminous.
Everything was fine. They were getting closer and closer to finding Wooyoung. During this time they received a few threatening notes, most were threatening to harm Wooyoung which did hit a few nerves. Until they got into one specific letter written by a rival gang that liked to call themselves Iniquus. Usually, all this rival gang would do was send them letters, but this time they also sent three photos. Three photos which showed the three males they were looking for...
