"He means well." Dawna tried as Remus seemed about to explode from anger.

She thought it was cute what Sirius had set up. A cute indoor picnic with god knows what playing on the TV.

"I know. I know he does its just-" He cut himself off as he sat on the sofa and Dawna sat beside him and placed a gentle hand on his back, Remus looked at the Tv and let out a half hearted laugh, "Atleast he put on Rocky Horror."

Dawna smiled even though she had no idea what that was.

Remus seems really torn up about it all but she didn't seem to understand or see why. It was really nice of Sirius actually, to set something up for them like this. Sure it seemed like a date but Dawna couldn't help but think that wouldn't be such a bad thing. Would it?

She pinched the end of her dress in her fingers and looked at Remus again.

He looked stressed and upset.

Maybe it was a bad thing. Maybe he didn't want to do this at all.

Dawna cleared her throat as she stood up and pushed a rose petal aside with the tip of her shoe.
"Right, we should just clean this up and go bed. Are you tired? I'm tired? We've been shopping all day and I'm so tired." She rambled and she began to gather the pillows off of the floor.

This hurt.

She didn't like it. She hadn't ever thought about being attracted to Remus. Sure she liked him loads, and yes he was very attractive but she hadn't ever noticed anything past friendship. Maybe it was just a friendship but Dawna didn't think she'd be opposed to something a little more with Remus. He was her favourite person.

"Red-"
"No- no its okay." She rushed as she dropped a pillow and when she dropped to her knees to grab at it Remus grabbed her shoulder with a soft grip.
"Red- Red stop it." He told her and she dropped the pillows and looked up at him. He was still sat down on the sofa and he was looking at her with worried eyes, "Stop moving." Red breathed heavily and her lip quivered.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I just didn't think us on like a- like a date- like this- was such a bad idea but you seemed upset and hmph-!"

Remus stared at her for a moment, with his finger pressed to her lips before a gentle smile crossed his own,
"We can sit." Remus told her and Remus transferred himself from the couch to the floor in a swift movement and he gestured for her to sit after he fixed the pillows. She turned and sat down properly beside Remus and leaned back into the pillows, sinking into them slightly. She didn't look at him, cheeks burning red from the profession of whatever it was.

There was silence for a minute where they both stared at the TV before Remus spoke.

"Its not that I'm opposed to the idea of trying it out." He started, voice hushed and Dawna didn't think she would have heard it if she wasn't sat with her shoulder against his, "There were- are so many other things that I was worried about. Like what if you were opposed or it didnt work out or if it was just wrong." He told her and Dawna looked at him and although he kept his eyes on the people on the screen it was obvious he wasn't actually watching what was happening.

When he failed to meet her gaze she leant towards the plates infront of them and picked up a biscuit.

"I believe I do like you Remus," She said as she put the biscuit in his hand, he hadn't eaten today, "I think I remember what it feels like. I mean I had a boyfriend when everything happened and I liked him. I liked him alot."
"Would you want to see him again?" Remus asked her as his stare lowered to the biscuit. Dawna shrugged and her gaze moved back to his profile, tracing it with her eyes as if trying to bore it into her memory.

"I went to lose my virginity that day, to him. But I didn't and he ignored me and I found you instead. Well it's more like you found me." She let out a half hearted laugh, "So it would be nice to see him but I don't think he's the one for me." She told him and Remus finally met her gaze and the sincerity of it jostled her.
"And I am?"

Dawna shrugged.
"Maybe."

Remus searched her eyes then looked away again, setting the biscuit aside.

"But how can I know if I don't try it out?" She looked away and shut her eyes, she'd never been one to hide her feelings. She didn't like how crushing it was on her chest. She took chances. She was a risk taker. She was sixteen years ago and she believed she would be in 16 years, in 60 years if she lived that long.

Although she didn't like the suspense of rejection after it.

The silence was so long and Dawna didn't think she was breathing as she waited.
Remus moved beside her,
"Alright."
She looked up and turned her eyes to him. He was already looking at her with a passive expression,
"Alright?" She asked and Remus' lips split into an award winning smile and by the way her chest twisted she knew.
"Alright." He repeated and it was Dawnas turn to smile
"Alright." She repeated and then looked down at the plate in his hand, "can you even eat chocolate?" She asked as she picked up a brownie.
"No." He told her and watched as she took a bite out of it and put the rest back on the plate.

"No good." She excused as she took the plate from his hand and put it down on the floor beside her.
Remus' smile seemed permanent and Dawna lifted her knees up to her chest and she dropped her head to his shoulder.

She'd done this so many times but now things were different.

He turned his head and pressed a gentle kiss to her head before resting his head on hers.

But not that different.

She watched their hands rather then the movie and his held hers with a gentle grip. His hand seemingly engulfed hers.
Dawna could feel the scars on his palm against hers and he tightened her grip on his hand.

"Eat Remus." She whispered and shut her eyes.
"I will."
