"Hello my people!" I yell to the crowd. "So today, I have created something very fantabulous." Pause for dramatic effect. "I have put together a contest!" I see blank stares looking back at me. "So as you all know I have been told to choose one Merlain from each power to assist me in saving the world. For wizardry I have chosen Jen. Mostly because I had no choice but still! For fire, I have chosen Sean."
"No surprise." I hear mumbles from the crowd.
"Earth, I have chosen Mia. And finally, for water, I have had some trouble choosing between two. So, to decide, I will put the two in a fight to the death."
I see looks of horror cover people's faces.
"My god! I'm kidding! I have put together a contest of five water events. The person who gets the most, shall win. The person who doesn't, will be backup if the winner backs out or get severely injured. Now finally. The moment you probably haven't been waiting for but I'm gonna say you have. The contestants are..." I pause again for more dramatic effect. "CRYSTAL RIVERS AND ALEXIS ALDRIN!"
That's a lot less excitement than I thought there would be. Boring losers. "Sean, Jen, and Mia will be judges for any events that need judging."
Mia looks at me with a look that I have no idea what means. "We never agreed to that." She says, crossing her arms.
"Actually you did." I state, mater-of-factly. "When you decided to accept the responsibility of saving the world. TO THE FIRST EVENT! ARCHERY!"
Chrystal's eyes light up and she grabs her bow, pulling the string to get used to it. "What are the rules?" She asks.
"Hush child I'm getting to it." I say while petting her face. Like right down the front of her face. "Sh. Sh. Sh."
She slaps my hand away and once Alexis has her bow we start. "The rules are simple. You shoot the dozen arrows at the target. Bullseye is 50 points, the circle around that is 40, around that is 30, etcetera. Points will be added up at the very end. Time is not an issue. Ready go."
Chrissy knocks her first arrow and pulls the string to her cheek. I see a determined glare in her eyes and she lets the arrow fly. It hits the bullseye on the moving target. She repeats this exact method many more times, pretty much guaranteeing her victory in this event.
Chrystal's grand total: 600
Alexis wasn't doing as hot. She wasn't bad, but she wasn't perfect score good.
Alexis' grand total: 430
