minho wiped the trickling beads of sweat from his forehead, despite the AC running in the living room. he then rose from his position, having just finished unpacking his luggage.
"why did i bring so many clothes again?" he asked himself, eyeing the towering stack of neatly folded clothes on the couch.
he plopped down on the couch with a sigh, turning his head towards the door he assumed was his roommate's room.
"i guess the other one's mine," he muttered to himself. he stood up and headed to check the other room.
minho approached the room with slightly nervous steps. he couldn't quite put his finger on it, but for some reason, he felt on edge. maybe it was because of his high expectations for what the room might look like?
standing in front of the bedroom door, he grabbed the doorknob with hesitation before turning and swinging the door open.
the sight that greeted minho was a decent-looking bedroom. just like the living room and kitchen, it was partially furnished with curtains, a study table and lamp, a mattress with covers, and a closet. there were also some shelves where minho could place his books and displays.
"wow," minho mumbled in awe. this was better than he had expected. he looked around the room, sitting on the bed and slightly bouncing on it.
"nice," he commented, enjoying how bouncy the bed was.
he then briefly exited the room to retrieve his belongings from the living room. he neatly arranged his clothes inside the closet and organized his necessary books and study materials on the study table. his larger and heavier items were set to be delivered tomorrow.
today wasn't exactly his first day of class, but instead, his first day at his new university. the principal had granted him a few days off to arrange his furnishings in the dorm before attending his classes, a gesture for which minho was genuinely grateful.
after finishing with arranging his things, minho laid down on his bed, releasing a deep sigh as he made himself comfortable. "maybe it won't be as bad as i thought," he mumbled to himself.
so far, he was content with his dorm, and he looked forward to experiencing the best dorm life ever. "just need to befriend my roommate," he added, peering outside his door.
"it's been hours since he came back and locked himself in his room..." minho pondered. "he's probably busy with his major," he shrugged, now curious about what his roommate was majoring in.
minho himself was majoring in biology, a field he'd always been passionate about. biology, the study of life, fascinated him. he saw it as a puzzle of existence, where each biological concept fit together like pieces of a puzzle. he was captivated by how every organism on the planet had a unique life, organs, and roles, and he saw the incredible diversity in the world.
it made him appreciate himself, his body, and everything around him. biology had given him a perspective that made him see people differently. he viewed humans as manifestations of the word 'life,' and it made him appreciate each and every person he came across, recognizing the uniqueness of every individual while also acknowledging the commonality that bound them all together.
not for long, minho grew tired of lying in his bed, so he decided to get up and leave his room. his intention was to explore the campus and acquaint himself with the various buildings.
"i should probably start with the buildings where i have classes," he muttered, taking out his phone to check his schedule.
since it was still early in the afternoon, minho believed it was the ideal time to embark on a solo campus tour. as he prepared to leave, he also thought, "maybe i should grab something for dinner."
before exiting the dorm, minho cast a brief glance at his roommate's room. he was incredibly curious about what kind of person his roommate was. however, recalling that his roommate had previously ignored him, minho didn't have a favorable impression and assumed he might be a bit snobbish.
minho shrugged off his curiosity, opened the door, and stepped out of the dorm, eager to explore the campus.
-----
minho strolled through the campus, exploring its different areas. fortunately, most students were in class at this hour, so he didn't feel too anxious about exploring the school by himself.
his gaze landed on a building near the dorms, and he read its name aloud, "clé hall..." he then checked his phone to see if he had any classes scheduled in that building. "oh, i'll have my physiology class here," he mumbled to himself.
minho made a mental note of the building's location to ensure he wouldn't get lost when his classes began. he continued his tour around the campus, taking note of where his other classes were located.
as evening approached, minho wrapped up his exploration of the campus and decided to head to a nearby convenience store to buy dinner since he wasn't in the mood to buy groceries just yet.
with a basket in hand containing some cup noodles and instant rice, minho pondered whether he should get extra for his roommate. "the kitchen looked empty, so should i just buy some for him too?" he contemplated, eyeing the variety of cup noodles in front of him.
"but what if he doesn't eat this kind of food?" he wondered, tilting his head in thought.
in the end, he decided, "ah, whatever. i'll eat it if he doesn't want any," and proceeded to add more cup noodles and instant rice to his basket.
minho then made his way to the cashier, paying for his purchases.
-----
after minho left the convenience store, he noticed that it was already dark outside, prompting him to hurry back to the dorms.
upon entering the lobby, he observed some students studying and chatting with each other. a frown crossed minho's face as he realized he still hadn't made any friends in his new school. he let out a melancholic sigh as he proceeded toward the elevator.
as minho stepped into the elevator, he found himself alone, which for some reason, made him feel uncomfortable. he pressed the button for the fourth floor and anxiously waited for the elevator to reach that level.
while waiting, the elevator began to vibrate unusually, and the lights started flickering, causing his heart to race.
just as quickly as it had occurred, the strange occurrence ceased, and the elevator doors opened to the fourth floor.
shaken by the experience, minho quickly stepped out of the elevator and sprinted in the direction of his dorm room, almost tripping in his haste.
he swung the door to his dorm shut with force, immediately locking it. the elevator incident had left him so nervous that he slid down next to the door, placing a hand over his rapidly beating heart in an attempt to calm himself.
as minho's heart rate gradually returned to normal, he stood up and went to the kitchen, where he began preparing his cup noodles. while his noodles cooked, he decided to take a chance and knocked on his roommate's door.
"hey, um, it's your new roommate, and, uh... if you ever want to eat, feel free to grab one of the cup noodles in the kitchen," minho said, trying to discern if his roommate was even inside the room.
minho waited by the door for some kind of response. after a few seconds of silence, he turned away when suddenly, a voice from inside the room spoke, "thank you, i will."
to say minho was shocked would be an understatement. he hadn't expected his roommate to respond, so this was a pleasant surprise. minho had been looking forward to getting to know his roommate, and this response was a promising start. moreover, his roommate's voice was soft yet slightly deep, which only piqued minho's curiosity further.
'i wonder what he's like,' he thought to himself.
