I pulled away from the hug to smile at Sam. He smiled weakly wiping his eyes again. "You know, even if there was nothing going on with me and Colby, I'd still want to hang out with you. You're an amazing person and I can tell, it's so obvious that you're an amazing friend even if everything went perfectly but you didn't like me or want to be my friend I would still be unhappy. Sam, you're literally Colby's guardian angel. You think him being around is the only way you're there but it's the other way around. He wouldn't be there if it wasn't for you. I wouldn't have known him yet if it wasn't for you. I said yes to coming to the party to be friends with you, I didn't know Colby I wasn't curious enough to go just to see what he was like, I went to hang out with you and be friends with someone who I knew instantly was amazing to be around. So, if my saying things I appreciate about you makes you cry then get used to it and stay hydrated because I will happily make it my life mission to make you cry like this every day." Sam chuckled. "Even when we're old, if everything that could possibly go wrong in our lives happened then I'm going to be sat next to you in the nursing home making you cry like a baby," I explained with a laugh.

Sam chuckled as he nodded. He wiped his eyes a final time before hugging me again. I hugged him tightly making him laugh. I smiled pulling away. "You're the best, Danni. Best friend already," He explained. My mouth widened to a grin.

"Really?" I asked happily. Sam laughed.

"Yeah, I feel like you know me better than half the people in my life right now. Even just this one hike you know me better than thousands of people." I placed my hand on my heart. I smiled widely.

"Aw, you two look adorable," An old woman expressed as she walked past us on the hiking trail. I chuckled as I looked at her.

"Thank you, this is my best friend," I said excitedly. Sam chuckled as she smiled at us sweetly. The woman walked with an older man and a small dog.

"This is my husband but best friend for life," She explained. Her husband wrapped an arm around her giving her a small hug.

"Well, you two look adorable too. Have a good day," I explained as they continued walking by.

"You too," The husband added. The dog stopped for a second to smell us before continuing with his owners. Sam laughed before we continued the hike. We weren't too far from the top of the hill.

"Do you think Colby is crying right now?" He asked out of nowhere. I looked at him confused as I chuckled. "Well, his two favourite people are hanging out without him," He explained making me laugh.

"I hope so, teach him a lesson," I joked. Sam laughed as he shook his head. My phone started ringing in my pocket. "You mind if I get that?" I asked pausing to reach for my phone. Sam shrugged with a smile. I grabbed my phone seeing Kay was calling. She was facetiming again, the name of Angel displaying on my phone with my favourite photo of her. "Hey angel," I answered with a bright smile.

"Hey, where are you?" She asked noticing I was outside.

"I'm just on a hike with my new best friend," I explained turning my phone around to show Sam as we walked. He smiled at the phone as he looked at Kay.

"Hey, Sam," She greeted giving a little wave through the phone. I chuckled with a smile. I love her so much, so cute.

"Hey," He cheered, I smiled brightly.

"Sam, this is Kay my niece and other best friend. I didn't tell her your name by the way, she's started stalking you all since our call earlier," I explained making Sam laugh.
